Added benefit to DADT.....homophobes leave the military in droves!!!
   
I hear a lot of complaining about how military men and women will quit the armed forces if DADT is implemented!

And my response to that is 'good riddance'!

Someone who is that homophobic is also probably beating Iraqi citizens for no reason, kicking in doors of Iraqi households for no reason and just basically being assholes because they are ego filled pieces of shit.

If someone is so anti-gay that they would rather quit than continue to serve their country then I think their version of 'serving the country' mainly consisted of being a shithead with a gun who could fulfill their ego trip!

So the best thing about DADT is maybe a hidden screening mechanism to week out the bigots!

Nah, nothing to do with that.  It's just that most soldiers would rather not have to wait to engage the enemy until after the tinkerbelle's have painted their nails.

You see, I don't think the end of DADT would really change anything in terms of raw numbers, because most people don't care what people do in their private lives, and many of them join to aid in protecting those basic freedoms.

Seems to me, they would be the ones to leave after their fellow soldiers avoid them like the plague, even while on patrol! I doubt they want their backsides exposed on the battlefield. In private, not so much.

Unfortunately, that is not the reason the gays demand that DADT be overturned.  They want it because they could then bend an overly PC officer corps into supporting things like gay marriage and adoption.  The gays that are driving this train know that.

I think DADT should be a way of general life for everybody, and certainly worklife.  At work, does anybody know your sexual preferences, i.e. whether you like to be on top, like it in the morning, etc.?  Of course not!  It's also against most company policies and laws to go around talking about sex at work.  Just DADT, and do the damned job.

Look on the bright side...we can save money...with an all fairy military, we won't need helicopters and airplanes. They can just flutter themselves to the front. And I don't see why we can use germ warfare...legally then...they will be the best deadly STD delivery system ever seen.

Exactly - this shouldn't be an issue regardless of sexuality. Most workplaces also forbid inter office relationships, people having managerial command over spouses, siblings, parents, or children.

These restrictions apply regardless of orientation, and should also be respected in the military - which really makes DADT a moot issue. Keep your bedroom habits to yourself.

If this happens then why not just have the men and women shower together.  I don't see much difference. Either way you have groups of people who find some of the others they are with sexually attractive.

I was talking to my son about this the other night. He said he really didn't care (he's been around gay people because my best friend is like an uncle to him) but he thinks the grunts won't be happy about it. They're usually young, macho guys full of adrenaline and testosterone, and brotherhood, the kind of qualities you want in a fighting force. But tolerance for sissy-boys is best at a distance. IMO war time is not the right time to conduct a social experiment. And someone who's openly he said he would even wonder about showering next to.
