Couldn't an underwater nuke cause, I dunno, the pocket the gas/oil is in to collapse spreading radioactive oil all over the Gulf and possibly even causing a tidal wave?

Whatever it would cause as a side effect, you can bet your fourth point of contact that the DUmp hasn't thought it through.

indeed. The hydralic shock wave alone would kill sealife for miles and miles. Damaging nearby wells too.

Then watch what happens when all that radiated material gets into the Gulf Current.  I'm tempted to burn my mole next time I see one of these posts.

The fallout would be carried around by the currents, ingested by wildlife and work their way up the food chain to us.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the underwater fallout.  Think about how many nukes were tested during WWII and after.  The ocean is a big place.   We'd still just be trading one type of pollution for another, oil for radioactivity.

The Gulf is a bit smaller and closer than the South Pacific though
