Benefit for Nashville
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:10:30 PM »
It's airing on GAC, (Great American Country).  Wow, they have been slamming Obama and the federal government for not doing more. Slamming the national news for not covering the devastation and destruction.

Just kidding. All they are doing is talking about how the community has come together, but that donations of food and money are still needed. They even had a clip about a local animal  hospital that was damaged.

Oh good, it's being shown again.

It was last week. The country western stars are trying to let people know that there are an awful lot of people hurting in the Nashville area.

Washington has basically ignored it....though I guess Obama did sign a disaster bill for it. Amazing how much he can traipse around the country but hasn't even done a flyover of the Nashville area.

Guess TN is too Republican for him...though the governor is a Dem....for another couple of months.

I saw part of this earlier tonight.

The main street that runs through my neighborhood still has houses with piles of rubble out by the curb.  The trash piles seem to grow every day.  Sevenmile Creek runs right behind those houses and they all got flooded.

If it had been Bush he would have already been nailed to a cross for NOT doing anything

Exactly!!!!

My local NBC channel news brief just announced that Opry Mills Mall, HOPES to reopen by the Christmas season!!

The entire place has had to be gutted.  10FEET of water gushed through the place from the Cumberland River.

There were over 200 stores, 1,120,000 SF...who knows how many employees.

The Gibson Guitar Showplace was there, and they actually make guitars there, and you can watch through windows the whole process. I'm not a musician at all, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into this - it was fascinating. Plus they had a lot of collector items in the store.

There was a huge Bass Pro Shop, not as big as the free-standing ones, but still quite big.

Lots of neat restaurants.

I've only been there once, and we were there for several hours and did not go through the whole place! Three women that are "certified quality shoppers" couldn't get through it all!  :bawl:

It seems like it's only the Country Western stars and the people of TN who are concerned with what has happened in Nashville.

Are they not poor enough? Not the right skin color? Vote for the "wrong" party?

Or just flat out not important to Obama?

All of the above.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Davidson County is a blue island in the middle of a red sea.  Of course, we're not metropolitan enough for Barry and Chelle... I wouldn't know where to go for arugula.  I do know a damn good sushi restaurant, though.

Memphis is down there in the lower left corner and Nashville is the octagon in the center.  Not sure what those other four counties are.
