The first thing we have to do is end this war. And the right person to end it is someone who had the judgment to oppose it from the beginning. There is no military solution in Iraq, and there never was. I will begin to remove our troops from Iraq immediately. I will remove one or two brigades a month, and get all of our combat troops out of Iraq within 16 months. The only troops I will keep in Iraq will perform the limited missions of protecting our diplomats and carrying out targeted strikes on al Qaeda. And I will launch the diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives that are so badly needed. Let there be no doubt: I will end this war.

Today it's been 16 months since Obama was inaugurated.

Something I noticed yesterday, we took a different route heading to a job we had, after Bush was elected to his 2nd term there was a house where the guy decided to put all anti-war signs on his lawn, we went by there yesterday and he had a flag outside his house and the sign God Bless America. I would love to ask him what changed? the troops are still there and the war is still going on, why doesn't this guy care anymore?

I almost wish Obama hasn't been such a disappointment to the little shit stains.

Every day the US stands fast to fight is one more day they have to confront the reality that maybe--just maybe--Obama is keeping them the troops there because of a genuine security interest and not Halliburton.

But he has blown much of their credibility with them with bailouts, mandates etc (makes one wonder which voting bloc he was trying to appeal to as left, right and middle was pissed off).

Although it's never easy we can undo a legislative but we can't undo a lost war.

There is a moonbatcave over on 238 that had a huge sign outside the house for Bush's entire presidency.  I noticed the sign had dissappeared sometime last year.  I've often wondered what their DU screen name is.

I did have the occasion to run into a member of code pink.  I started to say something, but I decided against it.  My daughter was with me and those people aren't stable.

Obama being elected totally divided DU more than when Bush was in office. Disliking Bush was pretty unanimous. Obama, however, is iffy over there. And that has been true for every democratic candidate that ran for pres. Kerry, Howard, Edwards (for sure now), Clinton. Mentioning all of those names in one sentence probably would makea few heads explode over there.

Clarity like that will get you the pizza over there.

It has always been my opinion that politics are ruined by politicians. I think Patric Henry had it right when he expressed his opinion that there should be no paid elected officials. He feared that it could lead to corruption.

Actually when we first started there were men who put the country first. Now the only thing they care about is their re-election.

What a pity! Even when we elect them nowadays and think they will return to our roots, 6 months later, they're fully entrenched in getting re-elected. Nothing else seems to matter. Even if we took their paydays away, they make deals under the table for their influence in order to get rich. It would take a complete revamping of the ethics rules to make any kind of a dent in these greedy c...s...ers!

Perhaps if a few did some serious jail time at Leavenworth breakin' rocks, instead of some preppie golf course..........Ah well, I can dream.

Other than fundamentally ruinin...er... changing the country, what promise has Obama kept?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

It's easy to be angry at the other team - being angry at your own when they screw up is much harder.

The rules at DU compound that problem because they essentially outlaw intra-party dissent.

For example, the great Hillary Supporter purge.

I'd say DU did as much -if not more- to create the PUMA movement than actual PUMA sites. And a large portion of those PUMAs are now Tea Partiers.

I don't know how much DU did to create the Tea Party movement, because I think that more of the Tea Partiers are moderates who were seduced by Hopey McChangeSnorter's promises of "hope" and "change."  I think they are looking at the slogan, "Change It Back," really hard now.

well, I was being hyperbolic - DU doesn't have enough actual members to really affect anything - however - I feel that the militaristic attitude that hardcore leftists have about their candidates have turned off a number of the moderate dems, starting with the PUMAs. Obama's foot-dragging on several smaller promises (such as ending DADT) and support for things many leftists are against (charter schools) has angered his leftmost supporters.

Choosing to not offer Hillary the VP spot is among the largest miscalculations Obama has made with his own base. I'm sure somehow it's Bush's fault - but regardless, it's done, and it works for us.
