I have this bad habit, in facebook when one of my "friends" starts bashing liberals I go after them.
   
I usually hit them with historical quotes, designed to make them look foolish or against what our forefathers meant our country.

Today's altercation took place with a fellow who feels that when he moves around in the country, it doesn't seem like his country any more. There were way too many of those other types. A never ending stream of immigrants to blame the countries woes on. So today I prepped him for the kill with the fact that both of our families are made up from immigrant stock, as most people are in this great country.

Next I hit him with the quote on the Statue of Liberty:

I considered backing this up with a tight argument which I had built up to completely pulverize him, making him look like a complete idiot. Well, I don't know this guy well enough for me to really care, so I just deleted my further drubbing and removed him from my friends list. I was going to show him personally filmed Obama video form Obama's win speach which I shot for DU. Very powerful stuff.

Now his small group of haters and CONservative friends are making fun of me. Saying things like k"I forgot that part of history in history class". Playing up the I'm stupid but so what part of this type of mentality.

I bowed out of what has proven to me to be a waste of effort. People who regularly vote against their own self interest are very rarely convinced by logic. These folks are a lost cause seems to me.

Did I do wrong? Should I have confronted him vigorously making him look like a fool, even though the chances of getting through are very thina?

 They keep saying this over and over.  Who gave them this talking point?  It's tired.  I say once again, the DUmmies do not have a single original thought in their empty gourds.  

We get trolls at MB who say the same thing to us.  They get piled on with replies of "who the hell are you to determine what is my or anybody else's interest?  I don't want free government ponies!"   They can never answer.

If my self interest was high unemployment (making it hard to find a decent paying job) and higher insurance costs then they are right.

Although it leans conservative, it is a far more a populist, anti-incumbency movement - meaning both bad Democrats and Republicans are on the chopping block... I do love the spin though..
