My, oh my, look how far we've come?

50,000,000 posts in less than 10 years! Wow! That's over 14,000 posts a day, every day since January 2001. I post about it coming up because so much information has come from so many of those posts, and I wanted to say something before it happens.


Congratulations to the DU Family for soon reaching that magical number (looks like around next weekend), and to those good good folks who put it all together for us - EarlG, Elad, and Skinner - I wonder their feelings about having their site having that many posts and come January 2011, the 10th year of their site. What an adventure it must have been for them. Also, all the help from numerous mods and thousands of donations.

I have been posting here for 6 years, and have posted stories as varied as my post office ordeal with the anti-healthcare nut, the rich lady calling the cops on me from her BMW for helping a homeless lady (encouraging 'them' to stay), and then there was the Fred Thompson supporter who edited my youtube video honoring the Minn. bridge victims by putting video of B*sh over the photos of the victims! How noble.

But my favorite post was a few years ago, where I asked my fellow DUers to stand up in silent solidarity with me and "STONEWALL" because of the continued hatred in our country where GLBT citizens are still treated like perversions against humanity who cannot adopt in Florida, cannot marry in a vast majority of states, and die in the sands of Iraq for their country, but better not get caught kissing their partner goodbye.

I am so proud of my fellow DUers, who 'showed up' by the hundreds in that post, for always answering personal requests so strongly on here for each other when someone is angered or really down. There's been funds raised to help folks who have had horrible situations, flowers sent to Helen Thomas, and also DUers in peril and in need of a compassionate helping hand or simply a nice word or private letter from a caring friend on the other end (always, thank you, NanceGreggs).



WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW IS - What is your own favorite post? Or do you have memories of where people responded to your situation, or any stories that stick out of other DUers that touched you?

And what are your favorite stories of triumphs, good news stories, or humorous happenings that you remember in the first 49.9+ million posts? I'd like to read 'em.

Someone surely remembers all the millions of posts, right? A few select probably feel like they've been on here so long that they're accountable for a million themselves.

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've enjoyed those DUzy's, swamprat's amazing visuals, "Nance Rants", and "Top 10's" over the years, plus personal triumphs of fellow DUers that they have shared (for example, ihavenobias going to work for TYT), and finding out so many things I didn't know about, thanks to the great digging by kpete, madfloridian, hissyspit, IanDB1, 1776forever, bradblog and so many others! And of course, reading all the posts of heartbreak of DUers who have gone or lost loved ones in announcements in these millions of posts.


And on a lighter note, who can say with a straight face that they don't love good ol' grovelbot?

This is actually something I could get behind. We could have our own little virtual party here in the DUmpster, reminisce about favorite DUmmies past and present, favorite posts, etc.

I'm celebrating because, without DU, I wouldn't have so graphic an example of contemporary liberal thought to turn my more moderate friends on to, wouldn't have such a comprehensive clearinghouse of moonbat lunacy to link to in e-mails to people who say, "Naaaah. No one really said that, did they?", and wouldn't have had so many hours of fun watching the monkeys-fornicating-with-a-football that is the DU community.

Thank you, Skinner, from the bottom of my heart, for gathering all that snakeshit craziness into one spot for us. Happy 50,000,000th!

I just put in a couple of conservative sites I go to and 1 site is up 65% and the other is up 3%, oh and I just put Rush's site in and it's up 8%.

They have changed what it says about membership.  It used to list total members, but now it says: "158,599 user registrations".  That lets them off the hook about the banning issue.
