GOP proposes 0.017% spending cut
« on: May 14, 2010, 02:45:08 PM »
Quote
House Republicans unveiled a bold strategy to cut 0.017 percent from the $3.7 trillion federal budget this week. Republican Whip Eric Cantor unveiled the GOP’s “YouCut” website, which includes five possible spending cuts for citizens to vote on. Mr. Cantor promised to take the favored cut to the House floor next week for members to consider.

But the GOP leadership make themselves look silly by offering such small cuts. The suggested cuts on the new website average just $638 million in annual savings, which is just 0.017 percent of total federal spending. Put another way, it is just $1 of cuts for every $5,800 of federal spending. The average YouCut savings idea is just 0.04 percent of this year’s federal deficit of $1.6 trillion. So we would need 2,500 cuts of this size to balance the budget.

Come on Republicans, you can do better. Terminating all of HUD’s $13 billion in annual community development spending, for example, ought to be an easy vote for any member claiming to be a fiscal conservative.

Some Republicans do understand the nation’s fiscal emergency and the need for bold action. Paul Ryan, for example, has his excellent roadmap proposal. But thus far with YouCut, we have the Empire State Building engulfed in flames and Mr. Cantor sending in a toddler with a squirt gun to solve the problem.

This is ridiculous.  Remember all that jabber about hatchets and scalpels during the campaign?  Bring out the hatchets, you cowards.

A chainsaw would be more appropriate.

I was going to suggest packing the whole thing with dynamite but that's a little drastic.

Yeah, because sitting at home on our asses in 2006 and 2008 sure showed 'em, huh?

What we're seeing in Utah and Maine are two examples of "little folks" like you and me who have had enough of the RINO bullshit.  Dana Milbank of the Washington Post thinks this is the beginning of the end of the GOP, as he points out HERE.  Me?  I think he couldn't be more wrong.  He sees people taking back their party, and it scares the ever-loving shit out of the RINO/Dem crowd.

Something tells me we need to replay Reagan's 1975 CPAC speech until the RNC gets it, or until the deadwood is gone.  Either way is fine with me.

Yeah yeah yeah.... Whats it been now?  Almost 100 years of progressive bs from both parties now?  People still sing like a canary totally blind to anything history has to teach them.

Like I said... keep votin, thatle learn em...

Apparently people are too busy arguing the politics to see the truth behind the matter.  Put anyone in you want brother you will have the same problems.  You will not fix anything.  Until this nation finds its moral compass once again, we are lost as a nation.

This nation is lost on principles and no man you can present to me can measure up.  Play the game all day long and you end up with the same results, nowhere.

These clowns just do not get it.  There is not ONE incumbent that I am voting for this year. Tihart is the rep in my district, he is running for Senate.  He doe NOT DESERVE it.

My take is that all the folks that could do a stellar job have some stupid little thing in their closet that would never allow them to run.  I personally do not care what happened or what someone did when they were in their 20's, I want someone that is willing to speak their mind, make tough decisions and know that serving in the congress and Senate is not a profession but a calling.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.
