BOSTON - FBI agents have executed search warrants at multiple locations in the Northeast in connection the failed Times Square car bombing.
NBC's Pete Williams reported that the agents involved in the raids are pursuing potential cash connections with the bomb plot.
Williams said they are checking out currency exchangers who may have facilitated transactions for the alleged bomber, Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistan-born U.S. citizen.
However, officials told Williams they do not know whether the exchangers had any idea why Shahzad wanted the money.
Two people were arrested on immigration violations during the raids.
FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz said the searches were the product of evidence gathered in the investigation and that there is "no known immediate threat to the public or any active plot against the United States."
Marcinkiewicz would not confirm any addresses, but NBC station WHDH reported search warrants were executed at a gas station in Brookline, Mass., and a home in Watertown, Mass.
