Real life encounter with an oblivious liberal

**Almost sounds like a bouncy alert**

Last night I went out to dinner with a large group of people and ended up sitting with people that I didn't know.  We started introducing ourselves, and I told them that I am a paralegal at a corporate immigration law firm.  One of the ladies immediately started saying that I must have have opinions on the new Arizona law, and I basically said that yes, I do have some opinions without expanding further.  I didn't really feel like getting into politics at the dinner table.  Then she and the lady next to her starting talking about how awful it was, etc., so I decided to add some reality to the conversation.  I told them that US law actually already requires anybody who is here as an immigrant or temporary worker to carry evidence that they are here legally, so the Arizona law really isn't changing much. 

The first lady then said, Exactly! They are just using this law to persecute people.  She went on a bit, then I tried to clarify and said that really the law is just saying that they have the right to enforce the current laws.  Somehow she continued to misunderstand me, and she and the lady next to her started talking about how terrible it would be if this law started coming to other states.  I gave up that point. 

I can only assume that she had assumed that I would be against the law, and therefore took everything I said as being against the new law.

I heard that there is a grocery store chain in Florida that has checkers and others brought in on work visas.

Too bad Americans can't find jobs.

But none of them see the irony of having to wait for a visa or fit a specific job need before they emmigrate because of the evil conservatives.

You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

I remember years ago Martin Sheen tried to help the homeless, I have no doubt his neighbors in Malibu were telling Martin how wonderful he was to take on this cause UNTIL Martin wanted to bring the homeless people to Malibu, then all of a sudden there was an uproar. My point? when talking to a liberal and they think illegals have rights and how we should take care of them, take out a pen and pad and ask them for their full name and address, when they want to know what for then you proceed to tell them that if they want to take care of an illegal you'll gladly send them to their neighborhood. Their reaction will expose their hypocrisy and of course don't hesitate to point that out to them.

The site is soliciting donations to bus and dump as many illegals as can be afforded right into the heart of the city.. http://bustickettoboston.org    -- This was in response to Boston's boycott of Arizona, and since there is also a resolution essentially stating that everyone has the right to live in Boston, as well as other communities in the commonwealth, it was an obvious solution.  :-)

It really upset me when I talk to guy who has been here legally many years, working, following all the rules, etc., and he is still waiting for a green card, then I hear people talking about blanket amnesty for the illegals.

Aw shucks AM....but we like em here....right?  I mean, I have a bus station for Turimex, and one for El Conejo a mile or so from my house, conveniently located across the street from the city's Day Labor Center.  (built to keep people out of the 7-11 and Home Depot parking lot.  And we aren't even a "sanctuary city" last time I checked.

That's the way it is with my cousin-in-law. He's been in this country legally for years. They have 3 children. He studies English and is taking citizenship classes. They'd love to bring his parents from Mexico but refuse to do so legally. They live in CA so it wouldn't be hard but for them it's immoral.
