The media will kill themselves trying to keep crist in the lead. Polls are mostly useless.

Does the top vote getter win or will there be a run off of if none of the candidates gets 50% or more of the total vote?

That's screwy. In LA, all local and state races have a run if no candidate gets 50%.

Somehow I missed this:

"Charlie Crist received a bounce in the polls when he left the Republican Party to run for the U.S. Senate as an independent. New numbers suggest that the bounce for the governor is over.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in Florida finds Republican Marco Rubio with 39% support, while Crist earns 31% of the vote and Democrat Kendrick Meek trails at 18%. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided."

I happen to be a huge Charlie Crist fan.  I was dissapointed he left the Republican party to become an Independent but will still vote for Crist.  He's a no-nonsense guy and a natural leader to boot.

Too bad he never was nor will he ever be remotely a conservative.  More like a younger whorish version of Arlen Specter, and one can only hope the people of Florida see that before they pull the lever.

Crist is very conservative.  He doesn't tote the party line up and down but he is generally conservative.

Just recently (yesterday I believe) he vetoed a Republican-backed bill requiring all females wishing to have an abortion first get an ultrasound.  I'm fiercely anti-abortion but am not entirely sure of the major advantage would be to have an ultrasound.

An ultrasound can help determine the size of the fetus, which helps indicate how far along it is...how many weeks since conception.

It's usually a more accurate way of determining due date, which is why there are usually 3 done during the pregnancy. It also is used to determine if the baby is forming correctly, no problems, and the sex of the baby.

If a woman comes in for an abortion, and says she's only 10 weeks along....an ultrasound can determine if she really is approximately 10 weeks....or if she's 20 weeks.

I would think an ultrasound would be mandatory....

And by vetoing the bill, now public (i.e., TAXPAYER) funds are used for abortion.

He was also in favor of Porkulus, and is getting help in his campaign by a group called SKDKnickerbocker, which is run by none other than Anita Dunn.

Pro-life, conservative?  My dyin ass.  Crist knew he would get his ass handed to him in a GOP primary, precisely because he WASN'T a conservative.  As I've stated before, he's a political opportunist who is looking out for one thing, and one thing only--Charlie Crist.

Another thing is it might change the woman's mind on having an abortion.  She goes into the U/S lying to herself that it is just a lump of cells, comes out having just seen her baby.

Re: New Crist/Rubio/Meeks poll--new numbers as of 7/22/10
« Reply #15 on: July 23, 2010, 11:41:51 AM »
New numbers:

"The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Florida finds Rubio earning 35% support and Crist capturing 33% of the vote. Prospective Democratic candidate Kendrick Meek remains a distant third at 20%. However, for Meek, that reflects a five-point gain from earlier in the month"

Not much changed for either Crist or Rubio since Rasmussen's 7/8/10 poll.

The Democrat has gained--at least, the putative democrat. Which is bad for that utter POS Crist. Which makes me happy.

So they still haven't resolved who their Dem sacrificial lamb is yet?

Well, after all, why vote for the Silver Fox when they could vote for an ACTUAL Democrat?
