RALEIGH (MCT) — Wake County social service workers have told funeral directors that the county's Human Services department will no longer help poor families by giving them caskets. The county can't pay for them anymore as officials scramble to save money during this year's budget crunch. Occasionally, county social services could help out by providing a casket 20 to 25 times a year at a total cost of $8,000 to $9,000.The low-end caskets cost about $360 apiece. Raleigh funeral home owner Bruce Lightner predicts that people will start leaving bodies unclaimed if funeral costs get too high.
Wasn't there a story last year about unclaimed bodies in Detroit or some other liberal waste land?
The city of Detroit can't afford to bury dead homeless people.
Every city water department has rubber tired backhoes that could dig a grave.... Oh I forgot, union workers only do certain jobs and not others. OK so somebody would probably volunteer to do it after work if they'd let'em.
No volunteering, the union would go nuts
