Another DUmmie running for office . . . sounds like a real "winner", too. BIG chip on his shoulder:

All this whining about Republican state legislature evil
Edited on Wed Apr-28-10 10:48 PM by John N Morgan
And I'll bet in your local district there is a Dem candidate that can't get a dime.

My campaign is about to fail, but keep whining about what the Republican state legislatures are doing.

Play the victim much?

Do you even KNOW what state congressional district your in? Do you even know who your representative is?
Do you know how candidates qualify for the ballot in your state?

Just ask'in since we're SOOOOO knowledgeable on politics and all.

Encounter with Jupiter Police Dept (FL)
Edited on Sat Apr-10-10 01:15 PM by John N Morgan
Hey All,
This is just to report to the public an encounter with the Jupiter Police Dept that happened this morning while I was standing roadside appealing for candidate petition signatures.

I decided to get out early this morning to see if anybody wanted to sign now that the "Education Reform" package was pushed through. I had decided to try Loxahachee River Rd at the Center St. intersection in Jupiter. The road feeds everybody that lives in the neighborhoods to I95, shopping at Walmart and Home Depot.

I have a 40x30 sign, which is as big as I can hold up for hours at a time.

I had been there for 2 hrs when a police car showed up. I was talking to 3 or 4 strollers, and one said "You've got company." As the policeman approached me the folks that had all signed departed. The policeman's name is Mayernik:

Me: What can I do for you?
Mayernik: I had a call and you need to leave. The sign your holding is against town ordinances (paraphrased)
Me: I have talked with the Martin and Palm Beach county attorneys specifically about this and I was told this is a First Amendment right (I hated to quote Constitution)
Myernik: Did you talk with our Code Enforcement?
Me: No, I didn't.
Myernik: The sign is a mobile/portable sign and can't be displayed.
Me: Then you need to write me a ticket and the lawyers will have to get involved.
Myernik: I don't want to write you a ticket.
Me: Then I don't believe there is a problem.

Myernik: Do you have identification?
Me: Yes (got my driver's license out and handed it to him). You know this does not look good. (Laughing) You can make my day. (I'm thinking, please arrest me)

The policeman retreats to his car, and I continue holding the sign and waving. As he retreated an architype of the Teabaggers walked by the policeman and stated, "We don't want him around here. Not even in front of the development, get him out of here." Now, to be honest I have NO tolerance for the American Taliban, AT, and I retorted, "And, I don't want you in my life at all, but here we are." (Honestly, this is why I didn't want to run, but did so that we could have a choice in Nov).

The AT turned toward me, and took a step (he was 20 ft away), so I added, "You might want to look at that license plate. I'm a Vet, and unlike any Democrat you may have glared at before I will NOT back down."

The policeman told the AT to move on.

So, the policeman is sitting in his car (about 5 min) I'm holding my sign, and waving. Desperately trying to cool down, and did so.

Two more police cars arrive. And there is a meeting. Somebody dropped me a hint, that I should not stand on the grass next to the road, but on the sidewalk and move my car to the other side. "You're five feet from being cool" So, I called back to the policeman that I was moving my car. And did so, returning to wave my sign from the edge of the sidewalk.

About 5 minutes after that, the Supervisor of the Shift drives up. One car had left so the car count is still 3. And I'm still thinking, "Please arrest me".

The supervisor approaches and basically wants me to leave because the development owns the area including the space across the road. I asked the supervisor if she was declaring the sidewalk as a non-public right of way? "I need you to state that, and I need it on a report, because, this will be an issue. I am going to file a report, and we might all get famous."

She said she needed to do some homework on this issue. There was some back and forth, but at the end, I was alone, waving my sign.

I thought I'd send this around.

John Morgan, Dem Candidate, FL H-82

Here's his campaign website -- looking pretty thin on $ and sigs:

He sounds like a Christmas gift to the district GOP, and a flaming embarassment to the Dems!

He has the potential to be a Christmas gift to the DU, as far as we're concerned.

Yes, his website reveals weakness, shall we say, in terms of dollars ($165) and sigs (74  1300 needed).  Also, nobody it seems has commented on his blog.   :loser:  Nobody likes you.

He said this on his blog:
Quote
This is the response that came 10 minutes too late after being verbally assailed by a fundamentalist: homosexuality is an abomination and abortion is somehow evil (blah, blah and blah). I didn’t have a response other than I disagree, but I do now.
The blah blah blah was his, not mine.  Not very professional, is it?  Also, he doesn't look like he can think on his feet and state his position.  A debate would be hilariously uncomfortable.

No, but then neither was his inability to distinguish "Your" and "You're" in his OP, I am guessing we aren't dealing with a member of the Hahvahd Mafia here.

Maybe he just hates the Constitution.

Sidewalks should be private property in a perfect world but since their not I am so happy that pro-lifers never get harassed on sidewalks. /sarc
