I never wanted power or wealth, people like me are not motivated to accumulate these things

People like us are often motivated by community, art, music, finding sustainable ways of living, etc.

Unfortunately, there are others who are strongly motivated to accumulate power and wealth. It is for this reason that they are the ones with the power and control. It is why greed occupies the place at the top of the American pyramid.

Just musing on the irony of it all.

DU in a nutshell, folks.

Personally, wealth & power aren't my primary motivations for life either.  Sure, money is nice.

If the DUmmies are so motivated by community, art, music, etc., they should go live in a ****ing commune by themselves and excuse themelves from society.

Ah, you're being a bit too harsh there, Ralph.  If you throw faith into the mix, many of our compadres here would probably be able to agree at least a bit with this DUmmie.

The big difference is that they expect their basic needs to be taken care of by the government in order to pursue their heart dream, while we expect to have to carve out our own living through effort and merit first before anything else.

Yeah, I was a little harsh.  I was speaking more to the entitlement mentality than anything.  Sorry if I offended anyone.

Didn't monasteries supplement their costs by producing and selling things?

DUmmies are far from pious Jesuits... they're more like teenagers.

I'm offended that Ralph thought he was offensive.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I find it offensive that anyone would be offensively offended by that offense.

You put four references to being offended in that sentence.

The vast majority of DUmmies are nowhere near Che's league, they're just overly-empathetic emo goofballs with a grave and regrettable deficiency in analytic thinking ability.

I don't go to gay websites, but pleasure yourself as you see fit.  On top of that, the substance of your post indicates a level of reading disability that is rarely found outside Marine Corps headquarters.

Ahh, true, true, but my ride had an Allison AV1790D for a powerplant.

There are still a couple of modified pulling tractors that come to the local fair with Allison engines in them.
Neat engine.

What the DUmmie really meant to say was, "we don't want to get off our lazy asses."

But their sensitive feelings won't let them tell the truth...they might get offended.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

  • Make America Great Again. Deport some DUmmies.
I'm offended by the DUmmies misuse of the word "irony."  But not real bad.

I still have yet to be not offended by Alanis Morissette's misuse of the word ironic throughout an entire song. The only thing ironic about that song is that her examples managed to teach a generation of kids what ironic isn't.

- And to any lurking primitives - irony is when something occurs that one went out of their way to avoid. Irony is also when one says or writes something that means the opposite of what the words do if you look them up in a dictionary. For example - someone sees their office building got tagged with graffiti overnight and says "Nice..." upon witnessing the vandalism.

I thought irony was when the opposite happens of what one would expect.  Like a DUmmie sacrificing his life in combat for the country.

G_j,  I've heard your band (Funkle Sam) and the the only thing your music motivates is the desire to vomit.
