It's because they don't have the capacity to understand business and how it works.  They 'feel'.  Their feelings tell them business shouldn't run like that.  Profit is a four letter word to them and something to be avoided at all costs.  Everyone should make the same pay from the Owner to the CEO to the floor hand to the janitor to the high school kid who is emptying waste baskets and cutting the grass.  Everyone should be equal from the time they pop out of the womb to the time they are put in the ground.

Sad really.  With people like that in our country we can't do what needs to be done.
