So did everyone pay their taxes?

I did. Got a big refund from the Federal government. But owned NY state about the same amount as the refund so I'm a bit bummed at the moment.

What really bugs me about this is that NY state gets about $0.79 back from the federal government for every dollars its citizens pay in federal taxes. Thus, necessitating higher state taxes. Yet states like Alaska gets $1.87 back, Mississippi gets $1.77 back, New Mexico gets $2.00 back. These states all have low or no state income taxes. So my taxes are subsidizing low taxes in those states. There is something very unfair about that.

Boo hoo DUmmie.  :whatever:

That DUmmy must be the only one in the DUmp, perhaps excepting $kimmer, who did not have a net gain out of the income tax system. I've been living on unemployment all year, and I ended up writing checks of roughly equal size to both the federal government and the state of Vermont. I made too much money to qualify for the Layabout Handout Credit, also known as the Earned Income Credit. Guess I need to adopt a few teenage Salvadoran prostitutes for this tax year so I can qualify next year.

Dear DUmmies,

As a former NM resident, I can say that we did not have "low" state taxes.  The reasons why states such as Alaska, etc., have lower taxes would be because they have other revenue streams, such as oil, tourism, etc.  I live in a state which has NO income OR sales tax, yet the rate of return of federal dollars is 47th (NH).  Some of the reasons why your "return" data is skewed is because of federal contributions to roads, military bases, or (in the case of NM), payments for supplements for Native Americans, which if you've ever been to Gallup, Taos, or Farmington on a weekend, there's a whole lot of 'em.

Of course, what the DUmmies fail to mention is that for ever dollar DC sends to federal coffers, they get back $5.55, Louisiana gets $1.78, West Virginia gets $1.76, and other higher-taxed states like VA, HI, and ME all get back significantly more than they pay in.  Come to think of it, outside the Four Corners area, NM is pretty blue as well....

Hey DUmbass, why are you bitching about subsidizing states with low or no taxes? You sure don't mind making sure those that work subsidize welfare queens, slackers, starving "artists", the homeless and drugged out. And more I'm forgetting. What's the bitch with subsidies now?

In general, the higher the population density the less money you get back. Make a four lane interstate through Wyoming or Kalifornia and it cost roughly the same per mile. However, with more people  it costs less per person.  Same can be said for old/new infrastructure, if you have it you don't get BigGov's money.

In addition, Kalifornia has something like .77 per 1$ in but 35% of all welfare cases are in Kalifornia. This indicates that there must be some kind of shenanigans going on in this computation to me.

A big factor in the amount states get back in federal spending is the location of military installations. Those installations were established way back when democrat senators and democrat congressmen of the Foghorn Leghorn generation controlled every penny. They were Southern democrats, and so the South got the lion's share of the federal payouts. Then, in the 1960s, the democrat party went crazy and the South turned Republican. It's not easy to move an air force base, so "red" states get a disproportionate share of federal spending, which was originally intended to go to democrats.

And don't forget that a huge percentage of the bases closed over the past 20 years have been in "blue" states.  Even the ones still open are way scaled back, such as Pease, etc.

Alaska was very base-heavy for actual strategic reasons dating back to the Cold War, and getting jet fuel to Elmendorf for the USAF or diesel to Pearl for the Navy is a whole Hell of a lot more expensive than doing the same for a CONUS base, ditto for the admin vehicles, lubricants, tires, ammo, parts, office supplies, PX/BX/NX/Commissary stocks and every other damned thing it takes to keep a base operating.

I'm getting a huge kick out of watching all the DUmmies crying about their taxes .... those who didn't get back more than they paid in anyway.

They're claiming that 95% of the population got a taxcut.  That's a lie.  I talked with my accountant a couple of weeks ago and she said she's not seeing it.  Since then I've talked to at least 4 other accounts that are friends and they all say the same thing; there were no tax cuts.  Another false liberal claim laid to rest.

Simple DUmmies....it cost a lot to buy blue votes in red states.

I have mine pretty closely figured so the FEDS don't get to use my money all year! Since Bummer sent me his "tax relief", I ended up sending him $300, the prick!

She is right in a way. Due to the donk economic policies there has been a drop of $800,000,000,000.00 due to unemployment. Just got to squint your eyes and turn your head to the side a bit and boom Nanzi is right.
