Considering that their entire economic policy agenda vis-a-vis ObamaCoup and Porkulus, is consumer-sided this doesn't even make sense in their own world view.

2. Way back, the Brits had to decrease the peasant population
 when the big farmers and landowners took over the small farms. It's the same thing. We don't need as many workers now due to mechanization, technology, and outsourcing. So, Wall Street wants to kill off the peasant class. You betcha.
