You know.....there is something "fishy" here.......

My next-door neighbor is a retired teacher from the KC system......she told me that in order to retire one must accumulate 75 "points".....now you receive a "point" for every year of your age, and one for every year of seniority that you accumulate.......

If you retire at 75 "points" regardless of your age, the school system pays for your health insurance until you reach 65, and are eligible for Medicare.......retirees must pay a small contribution to the premium (about $100/month), but they GET health coverage.......

Somebody's  lying.......

Ah'm pretty sure ProudToBeAnAsshole, would never be satisfied with medicare!!!!!!!!!!!!

Figure this: the Die alte Sau is 57 years old by her own admission, and quite possibly graduated with a teaching degree at the age of 22 years, 35 years ago.

57 + 35 = 92 points, well over the minimum of 75 points.

Of course, she may not have started with the Kansas City, Missouri, school system right away, and probably she took some time off to raise some kids, which subtracts from that 92.

75 - 57 = 18 points the Die alte Sau would have to accumulate, if such is the case.

I'm sure the Die alte Sau isn't a newbie teacher.

It's possible that she has not accumulated the required "points" for a full retirement, and is speaking of some kind of "early retirement" option that might be available.....sans health coverage......

Well, the ease and nonchalance with which the Die alte Sau hung around Skins's island when she was supposed to be teaching, suggests she's an old-timer at that school, getting away with things like that, that wouldn't be tolerated in a more-junior teacher.

I suspect the Die alte Sau has been teaching in the Kansas City, Missouri, school system for something rather more than the 18 years she would need for full retirement; she's probably been there longer than the urinals in the boys' room at the school.

Well....based on the matriculation rate, the NCLB ratings, and the average test scores, NONE of the teachers in the KC system are doing anything other than posting on DU........

Hence the plan to close half of them.....it is the only way they can get rid of the boatanchors, and force the rest of them to work......the average class size now is 15!!  What are they doing for their pay?

I wonder how many non-teaching bureaucratic positions that district has?

Remember that Pam works in Kansas and Anne works in Missouri.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Another thing about Anne. She works at two schools, teaching a split shift. She works at one school in the AM then drives to another school for the PM sessions. She teaches special ed students at both schools.

When I first moved to Idaho, I took care of a school that still had a coal fired boiler. I'd bet she's been there long enough to remember "clinkers"!

They used to let me have a coupla 6th graders to clean 'em out. What grade does she teach?

More than likely, that's where she graduated!
