Oh my.

Talk about self-interested.

I thought the primitives weren't supposed to be selfish.

At least the primitives say they aren't.

FRAU ANNE OF THE TORCHES AND PRITCHETTS
THE DIE ALTE SAU, #19 TOP PRIMITIVE OF 2009
THE DYSMENOPAUSAL KANSAS SCHOOL TEACHER

Original message

Instead of sitting by and watching while states abolish teacher tenure we need to demand it for all

Tenure doesn't grant any teacher a job for life. It guarantees due process if the school district decides to fire a teacher. The teacher is entitled to a written notification and an opportunity to appeal. That's it.

This is a right all workers should have. An employer should be required by law to have just cause to terminate any employee.

Instead of criticizing teachers for having tenure we should be working to guarantee it as a right for all workers.

3. ridiculous

this is a right ALL workers should have?

so,if you run a small business with two employees, your employees should have that right?

hell no

teachers otoh?

yes

but when it comes to small businesses, they need more flexibility and not ALL workers should have this right.

What we really need is a federal "Right to Work" law, ya dipshit! At least then you could deny the frikkin' commie unions their ability to make you join their club!

Come on, we all know Stinky is the expert on litter box use, having had to do so in the basement toilet all these years...

I'm in probably one of the most secure private jobs one can hope for, but even I am not smug enough to think I'm "fire-proof".  My employer can let me go any time for any reason, or no reason at all, should it suit them.

That being said, one's experience and training determines whether the next job is a phone call away, or a year of beating the pavement down the road, if then.

7. Yes all workers
I was fired from a part time retail job over the phone because a co-worker lied. Due process would have resulted in the co-worker's termination instead of mine.

5. A teacher in New York told an eighth grader "you have a sexy body"
He cannot be fired because of tenure, but the schools chancellor will not allow him back into the classroom, so he is being paid over $100,000 per year by the NYC Department of Education to report each day to a "rubber room" where he spends the day overseeing his multi-million dollar real-estate portfolio. And there are many others like him.

I am not enthusiastic about extending the concept of tenure.

I wonder why DUmmy Anne would say that. The really tragic thing is that worthless DUmbasses like DUmmy Anne will stay on the payroll, due to tenure, while Kansas City terminates countless good teachers.

I would surmise that the KC school district is closing about half of the schools.......hers might be included.......tenure will not be a factor in the ensuing layoffs.......

Mrs Pritchett has enough time to retire. She wants the money at the risk of laying off a younger teacher.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Damn, just damn!

Are you sure of that? If that's the case, she just dropped below earthworm in my opinion when so many are out of work!

Any comments, frank?

Got's to keep us honest, damn it, or else we'll get the same damn shit we accuse them of.

Sorry Bubba!

Still, if she's of retirement ability, and Stinky can afford to buy her baubles and cruises, idn't it just a tad hypocritical to let her underlings starve, while she enjoys her 50+ grand a year?

They make 38 thou here, so Kansas has got to be 50+! We're a "Right to Work State"! The unions can't fleece us nearly as bad as other states that pay "Davis Bacon".

She won't leave because of money.

You're assuming she will have a choice.....if her school closes.....

The  plan approved by the school board results in layoffs for all teachers at the closed schools.......those laid off will be allowed to reapply for any open position that happens in the future (like there will be many with the system shrinking)......and start all over with their seniority.....if not rehired within the six months specified in their contract.....

My next-door neighbor is a retired teacher from the KC system......she told me that in order to retire one must accumulate 75 "points".....now you receive a "point" for every year of your age, and one for every year of seniority that you accumulate.......

If you retire at 75 "points" regardless of your age, the school system pays for your health insurance until you reach 65, and are eligible for Medicare.......retirees must pay a small contribution to the premium (about $100/month), but they GET health coverage.......

Somebody's  lying.......
