Oh what a difference an election makes

Remember when terrorism was "a law enforcement problem?"

That was before the advent of The One.

Personally, I have no problem with this rat**** being greased on sight. But if this was Bush doing this, the dumbasses would be calling for him to have box seats reserved at The Hague.

Hypocrisy on parade:

Obama Administration Authorizes CIA to Kill US Citizen   Updated at 11:27 PM

Source: truthout

The Obama administration has lowered another legal barrier shielding Americans from extrajudicial punitive action by their own government, in this case authorizing the CIA to kill a US citizen suspected of having ties to al-Qaeda in Yemen and links to two attacks inside the United States last year.

Anwar al-Awlaki, a Muslim cleric born in New Mexico but now living in Yemen, may be the first US citizen targeted for assassination by the CIA under a counter-terror policy established by President George W. Bush and since embraced by President Barack Obama.

if during WWII you decided to join up with Nazi's you killed like the rest of them. Being American citizen doesn't afford some special protection if you decide to take up arms against it,

70. Since Awlaki is involved in plotting terrorist acts against his country, that's a GOOD thing. n/t

You can see where this is leading. Aside from the standard DU hypocrisy, you can bet some DUers would love to see something like this against Tea Partyers.

108. I repeat, this is in accordance with international law & Congress ruled on it after 9/11

Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 08:14 PM by ClarkUSA
As a general principle, international law permits the use of lethal force against individuals and groups that pose an imminent threat to a country, and officials said that was the standard used in adding names to the list of targets. In addition, Congress approved the use of military force against Al Qaeda after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. People on the target list are considered to be military enemies of the United States and therefore not subject to the ban on political assassination first approved by President Gerald R. Ford.

Are these the same ****wads that were just screaming "War crimes! Murder!" over 2 non-US reporters who got zotted by a US Army Apache gunship because they were hanging out with Iraqis totiing RPGs and peering around corners when US troops were moving through the area?

I get the impression that it would be alright to drop one of our "to whom it may concern" bombs......and then they could cry about all the dead innocents.

Best Pot/Kettle thread EVAH!
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I don't worry about the CIA being tasked to kill someone named Anwar al-Awlaki. It just sort of seems like the right thing to do.

Now that I think about it, I'm sure I've seen that guy in Montreal, or close to him. I was driving down one of the Montreal freeways in my gas guzzling Durango a few years ago, with a "Don't Tread On Me" Navy Jack affixed to the back window, and an oversized NRA trailer hitch cover, when a rusted out rice beater comes cruising up on my driver side fast, then matches my speed. I look over to see two enraged ragheads waving their arms, yelling at me, tongues wagging. I had no idea what their problem was, but I was so amused that I rolled down my window, looked over at them with a hearty laugh, pointed my finger out the window at them and did two "pow you're dead" hand signals at them. Then I dropped the hammer on my 318 and left them a receding rust spot in my rear view mirror. It really made my day.

Speaking of said Hellfire practice, I seem to remember a Hamas or Hezbollah senior guy--now that I think of it, he was probably Hamas--who the Mossad found out that he liked to sit in his favorite chair, looking out a window at the end of the day, a phone by his side.  Sooo, the Israelis set up an Apache with Hellfires, laser designated the window that he would look out, and called him.  He answered the phone as the gunner on the shooter Apache launched one Hellfire.  The Israelis hung up after ten or so seconds, and the missile flew through the window and struck said Hamas target in the chest.  Bye-bye! :fuelfire:
