Air marshal subdues man on DC-Denver flight
« on: April 07, 2010, 10:20:14 PM »
The FBI is probing whether a man tried to ignite his shoes on a DC to Denver flight Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials, who say the man is a Qatari diplomat.

An official said an air marshal on the flight apparently restrained them. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation.

The officials said fighter jets were scrambled but proved unnecessary, as the plane landed safely in Denver with no injuries to passengers.

Quote
A disturbance on a Wednesday evening United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National Airport to Denver which caused fighter jets to be scrambled appears to have been caused by a diplomat from Qatar who may have been smoking on board the plane and said something unfortunate when he was confronted.

The first news reports Wednesday evening suggested that the incident might have been an attempted shoe-bombing. But as the reporting evolved, that changed to a more benign story of a man smoking on United Flight 663 and perhaps making an unwise comment when he was confronted.

Why hang him he needs to suffer a little bit

fine.  can you say persona non grata?

seriously, demand that his diplomatic status be pulled.  this was nothing more than a test run for someone.  he was trying to smoke a cigarette, my ass.  smoking has been banned on US flights for over 20 years, don't try that lame ass excuse.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Fox News was saying that no charges will be pressed and the matter has pretty much been dropped.

Maybe the next time he gets on an American Airliner we can show him all of the new safety features we installed on the cabin doors from the OUTSIDE at 30,000 ft

Good thinking Doc, all kinds of stuff to consider.

Diplomatic Immunity has been used a few times before to cover not just the Diplomat but his family and staff.

Just one Diplomat could bring 35 staff members to America turn them loose to bomb or riot and when they were caught they would be free to leave the country.  Yupo, in the past family and or staff members of Diplomats have committed murder, robbery, rape, you name it.  These people are above the law and are free to do as they wish.

Had that Bozo on the plane actually been found with a dangerous device, a bomb or 50 pounds of drugs, he well knew his worse punishment would have been to be sent home.

I don't imagine Diplomats or their staff have to go through security, anyone from a Muslim Country can dress up terrorists and pass them off as their wives, who would know they weren't female, or bring some Black Widows along as his wives.

An Embassy is official sovereign land to the country that holds the land, I know of one in New York that for the right price any one from that country can get #SS cards, birth certificate, drivers licenses and a bundle of counterfeit money.   When I say I know about this one I mean through word of mouth from the people that BRAG openly that they are spending the weekend in N.Y. to [ buy ]  new identification.

The Feds are powerless over these Embassy's, they have to stand by watching as tons of drugs are moved in trucks and vans registered to the Embassy.

You may be on a roll here Docstew, this may be the Gate they use to come in destroy us from with in.
