Black conservative tea party backers take heat
« on: April 07, 2010, 03:59:21 AM »

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - They've been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and are used to having to defend their values. Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement—and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation's first black president.
"I've been told I hate myself. I've been called an Uncle Tom. I've been told I'm a spook at the door," said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government.

"Black Republicans find themselves always having to prove who they are. Because the assumption is the Republican Party is for whites and the Democratic Party is for blacks," he said.

Johnson and other black conservatives say they were drawn to the tea party movement because of what they consider its commonsense fiscal values of controlled spending, less taxes and smaller government. The fact that they're black—or that most tea partyers are white—should have nothing to do with it, they say.

"You have to be honest and true to yourself. What am I supposed to do, vote Democratic just to be popular? Just to fit in?" asked Clifton Bazar, a 45-year-old New Jersey freelance photographer and conservative blogger.

Opponents have branded the tea party as a group of racists hiding behind economic concerns—and reports that some tea partyers were lobbing racist slurs at black congressmen during last month's heated health care vote give them ammunition.

But these black conservatives don't consider racism representative of the movement as a whole—or race a reason to support it.

Angela McGlowan, a black congressional candidate from Mississippi, said her tea party involvement is "not about a black or white issue."

"It's not even about Republican or Democrat, from my standpoint," she told The Associated Press. "All of us are taxed too much."

Where I live the population is 40+% black. We have a few, very few, blacks attend out Tea Parties....even had a few speak...they leave no doubt as to where they stand and what they believe in. I guess one has to have some pretty strong convictions to set oneself apart from family and the majority of ones race.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

The shabby treatment black conservatives get makes me boiling, boiling mad.  How dare anyone sneer at their convictions and beliefs, as if they're unable to think for themselves?  It's insidious racism, straight up.

Man, I hope Angela wins her race.  Sounds like a little money bomb is in order.

:banghead: It is insidious racism indeed!
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

~ Dr. William Pierce

It's a typical Progressive tactic. Disparage those who don't agree with their viewpoint.

Quote from:
I've been told I hate myself.

(snip)

"I've gotten the statement, 'How can you not support the brother?'" said David Webb, an organizer of New York City's Tea Party 365, Inc. movement and a conservative radio personality.

(snip)

Hilary Shelton, director of the Washington bureau of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, suggested a bit of caution.

"I'm sure the reason that (black conservatives) are involved is that from an ideological perspective, they agree," said Shelton. "But when those kinds of things happen, it is very important to be careful of the company that you keep."

In liberalworld, calling blacks who aren't Democrats "traitors," "Uncle Tom's," saying one should support Dear Leader based upon his race and your's being the same, and making veiled threats that conservative blacks should "be careful of the company that you keep" (IOW, you've wandered away from where you belong so watch out or we might have to do something drastic to change your mind), is considered acceptable behavior and even encouraged.  Just goes to show how power-hungry they really are and how anyone not in lockstep with their agenda is to be eliminated politically, and if necessary, physically.

There was an incident in 2004 at CU where I recorded a post in the B/W forum from the primitive racist CatWoman.  She was calling Secretary Rice, Secretary Powell, Justice Thomas, and other black conservatives the n-word among other nasty things.  Why was she calling them that?  She clearly stated it was because they were selling out to whitey.  My pointing out how racist she is got her in such a tizzy she signed up and started saying she was black and had every right to call them that.  Yep, she tried to defend her racism, even going so far as to say that white libs that called them (or any conservative black for that matter) the n-word weren't racist, they were just telling the truth about them.  Exactly, she's a complete   :mental:  .  Double standard without a doubt, and time has proven again and again that she's too stupid to even see it.

These are incredibly sick and mentally unstable individuals, and it's articles like this that remind me just what they have to do to keep their mindless subjects in slavery to their ideology.

Another Black Conservative

NHSparky, if you stumble upon this thread, there's an article at the link that may interest you.  (Course, it's interesting for all of us.  It's about the reaction two New Hampster demo reps got back home).

Indeed - especially considering that DU is more white than the average US population is

About 12% or so of DU should be black - when one looks at their rogues gallery, one realizes they aren't even close.

A reason why many blacks refuse to accept the idea of being a Republican is due to how they were taught that Republicans were against desegregation.  Yet what they fail to have are facts.  Racism has been on all sides and if there is ever a clear representation of political evil one must look to Woodrow Wilson.  Before Wilson the military was not segregated.  After his election he segregated the military and reinstituted many racial issues within our country.  Yet no one ever wants to see the facts.
