Fortress Sarasota Part II
« on: April 04, 2010, 07:42:37 PM »
SLW and I will be returning to Sarasota!

I've accepted a new position and I start May 3rd. I'll be heading down last
week this month and get the ball rolling looking for a new house.

We put our place here on the market yesterday.

Well, it's reasonble to assume you're happy about it, sir, but is StLouieWoman also happy, being torn away from her native place?

She's torn Frank as her family is of course here in St. Louis.

But we know that once you move to Florida, you tend to have lots of visitors... :-)

And with her retired now, she can go back for visits whenever she wants.

Oh.

I thought she was still working, and wondering how that would pan out, her having to leave a job where she's made quite an investment in time, money, and hopes.

I officially left there January 1. I really was quitting, but said I retired. That way I got a really nice luncheon in my honor---had upwards of 50 people there, including SR, my sister and BIL, son, niece and her little grl, plus some of my dear former clients. Had some folks from the US 8th Crcuit Court of Appeals there, along a represesntative of the city of STL cops.

We got the word the day that the kitchen remodeling was finally done. I was putting the glasses and dishes back in the cabinets when SR called and said that the job offer had been made.

Was happy for him, but very sad for me. My sis has been in tears off and on all week, ditto me. The little grandson is adorable, and only 16 months old, with a new one on the way in October.

Hi, haven't been posting much anywhere lately, been busy "staging" the house, decluttering and cleaning. It's been pretty exhausting after just going through the kitchen remodel.

I'm sure you can identfy wth that whole selling the house and moving to another state. how's California? Frankly, I'm truly love Saint Louie and have never particularly been a Florida fan. But I'm sure it will all work out. Glad for SR, as it's a better job wth more opportunity.

Leaving friends & family is tough. Leaving behind grandchildren, even worse.

On the other hand you are making the move with the man of your dreams, how cool is that?

Congrats for you both!   SLW,  I'm sure you'll be making lots of trips back to STL.  And just think of taking your grandbabies to the beach when they come visit you!

She hates it. However, she's in a crappy part of the state. I hope BEG and family get out sometime and see the better parts.

Other than the taxes and politics in California---and the earthquakes--I greytly prefer California to Florida. I like the beaches in Ca, not just one damned condo after another like in Florida. It's funny how we get impressions of places as a kid. Florida is cool to you when you'd go see your grandmother there. My dad and mom used to argue all the time about where to go on vacation. My mom and sis always voted for Florida. My dad and I liked the mountains. When my dad died, my mom and sis visited Florida a lot. I didn't. I guess I was daddys little girl and absorbed his preferences.
