In all my 25 years of nursing I've never known any provider - doctor, nurse, therapist, technician, anyone - who based their quality of care on someone's race, religion, sexual orientation, politics or any other identity factor. The subject never even comes up except for, rarely, some religious consideration that warrants tailoring a treatment plan that takes into account their beliefs. If a patient brings up politics I'll listen to them, nod my head, and give a little "hmm" or something that signifies I hear them, but that's it. Health care professionals, the vast majority, have neither the time nor the inclination to engage anyone in a controversial subject unrelated to their care. We provide polite listening and acknowledgment of their feelings, not debate.
Now, if someone is a complete and utter asshole not related in any way to their condition, I may not feel compelled to go out of my way to give them any special privileges, say, stop on my way to work and pick them up a six-pack of their favorite soda, but otherwise they get the same standard of care as anyone else.
Based on the hatred I see coming from the DUmmies though, including some anecdotes from self-proclaimed "nurses" over there, I have no doubt that some of them would base their care on a patients religion or politics. There's at least a couple at DU who have no business being in a clinical setting, or having a license at all in my estimation.
