Doctor sends Dem patients away because of Healthcare issue
Mount Dora doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere

By Stephen Hudak, Orlando Sentinel

7:51 PM EDT, April 1, 2010

MOUNT DORA — A doctor who considers the national health-care overhaul to be bad medicine for the country posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Barack Obama to seek care "elsewhere."

"I'm not turning anybody away — that would be unethical," Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. "But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it."

The sign reads: "If you voted for Obama…seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years."

Estella Chatman, 67, of Eustis, whose daughter snapped a photo of the typewritten sign, sent the picture to U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, the Orlando Democrat who riled Republicans last year when he characterized the GOP's idea of health care as, "If you get sick America … Die quickly."

No you big DUmmy. The Dr. is not legally required to treat you. You can go to the 24 hr. walk in co-op.

You forgot the "Contact the media", "Contact your Rep" and "Sent it to Keith" parts.

37. You know what would be really bad for this guy (so you shouldn't do it)?
If scores of people who support health care reform were to schedule new appointments with this guy for months and never show up. That would be a really bad thing to do, and would cost him a lot of money, so don't do it.

42. Well I certainly wouldn't do that if I lived in the area.
I wouldn't call and make an appointment touting his All American philosophy and then not show up. I also certainly wouldn't encourage all my friends to do the same. That would be really bad.

Someone should send this to the good Dr.

Medicare and Medicaid used to pay for penile implants.....wonder if Obamacare is going to pay for those....or will it be only for the affirmative action cases?

this is why most doctors require 24 hours notice if you won't make an appointment... and I doubt 0bamacare will pay for missed appointments, so he can charge what he wants, and sue when they don't pay.

My company charges everyone who misses/breaks an appointment, and they can't schedule a new appointment until they pay the fee.

Of course this would only work if the good doctor is taking new patients.

The poll's 83% in favor of the physician, 11% middle ground, and the rest against.

Too bad for the primitives.

There's two threads on it at the DUmp, so it's getting noticed. They're losing their ability to DU polls.

Cassell, who has practiced medicine in GOP-dominated Lake County since 1988, said he doesn't quiz his patients about their politics, but he also won't hide his disdain for the bill Obama signed and the lawmakers who passed it.

Erin VanSickle, spokeswoman for the Florida Medical Association, would not comment specifically.
But she noted in an e-mail to the Sentinel that "physicians are extended the same rights to free speech as every other citizen in the United States."

The outspoken Grayson described Cassell's sign as "ridiculous."

"I'm disgusted," he said. "Maybe he thinks the Hippocratic Oath says, ‘Do no good.' If this is the face of the right wing in America, it's the face of cruelty. … Why don't they change the name of the Republican Party to the Sore Loser Party?"

That was after about 14,000 votes in the poll; I don't think the primitives can overcome that now.

If he has or starts a $5 deposit/cancellation fee for appointments and the DUmmies run with this, he could become a rich man in no time.  The DUmmies just don't get the whole "Law of unintended consequences" thing at all.

The vote is now 84% good for him, with 18,950 voting, myself being the last.   I'm going to go over and read their threads a little later.  This issue has been important to me, that of doctors "going Galt."

$5 a cancellation fee?  Ours around here are $25 or more.  And if you don't pay it, you're banned.  They get names, addresses, the whole nine yards.  So, the DUmmies can try and do their stupid human trick, but it will only cost them badly-needed Cheeto and pot money.  How come they never know these real-life skills?

Prescription for trouble. No matter what you think of the health-care overhaul, doctors should not impose their political views on patients. (2770 responses)

Just to refresh: the doctor said he wasn't turning anyone away, but merely inviting liberals to voluntarily remove themselves.  So... how is he "imposing" his views on his patients, again?  And how is it liberals, like this Grayson prick, can cry "FASCIST!" while insisting this man's career be ruined and free speech rights be rended assunder?

9. Good! No one in their right mind should trust a Republican physician

The attitudes, beliefs and values- as well as the character his character are all suspect, and may well lead to substandard care.

Okay. If you ever have to go to the ER with a heart attack or bleeding like a stuck pig, be sure to ask to see the doctor's voter registration card first. If he or she's a Rethug, you can always crawl up the road to the next facility.

I guess these idiots haven't noticed, many Doctors charge you a fee for missing your appointment. Usually at least the equivalent of your co-pay. If he sets aside time to treat you, ( you ignorant slut ), many have to wait for appointments, thus causing many of his patients, pain and suffering they didn't have to endear.

**** you, you ignorant misinformed POS!
