I miss the old days...
« on: March 14, 2008, 09:42:21 PM »
I did some digging for something from my Georgia Southern days, and found this wonderful newspaper article on some trouble we College Republicans caused after Kanye West threw his big temper tantrum and refused to perform there:

This is a PDF file, so if you have Adobe, you can read it. :)

Scroll down and you'll see some of my old friends wearing those controversial t-shirts (I miss them!!!  :bawl: And I had a crush on the guy on the far right. :p ).

So, if anyone has anything they'd like to share about what they miss most about the old days, feel free.

LOL! That's great! I hope you still have that shirt!

I was walking down memory lane last night. My brother sent me a few web links that have old pictures and whatnot of our hometown. I nearly burst into tears over some of them. Man, things change. I miss the good old days when we played outside until dark, drank out of the water hose, caught fireflies, rode in the back of pick ups, saw movies at the drive in....

Anyway, here's some stuff I found -

Local news report on the day Elvis died -

I kind of LOL'd at the one about gas rationing in 1979 - they were saying gas was expected to be a whole dollar a gallon. Sigh.

All the TV shows we watched -

The toys! -

The church my grandparents got married in. I didn't know it had caught on fire!!!

A grocery store then and now. (Of course I wasn't born then!)I love how the girls are all wearing skirts -

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

  • If I agree with you, then we'll both be wrong.

The t-shirt was very clever!

Dixie, I do still have that t-shirt, but it's back in Atlanta.  :(

Carlos, isn't it, though?   We were one of the feistiest organizations on campus, and the liberal newspaper, as you could probably tell, didn't like us too much.   :evillaugh:
