How can Congress legislatively undo Citizens United?

What kind of legislation can be passed that will concievably undo or blunt the citizens United decision?

Can Dems simply pass a law specifically establishing that corporations are not "human" and thus are not afforded the same rights?

How about passing an equal time provision that compels media outlets to alot an equal amount of time to both sides of an issue?

I think that a simple, clear cut proposal that the public can get behind has the potential to turn November into a winner for us, but only if Democrats can roll it out in the spring and make the issue of the summer.

It shouldn't be hard, Americans have a natural, built in distrust of large corporations, give em a chance to put them in their place and they will take it.

Thoughts?

Suggestion?

Problems?

With all the hysterics about impeaching a Supreme Court judge this should be easy for the intellectuals to answer.

1. perhaps the Defense Of Humanity Act -DOHA
then send a bunch of ranting loons out to whip up the right wing nuts saying this law protects them from robots and dolphins being declared humans.
It worked with DOMA

Well that was just stupid.

2. i am sure it could be done similar to the
way acorn was ruined, simply cut off the money supply, oh wait, these guys are entrepreneurs, they will make their money by using free enterprise.

large corps are unfortunitly a part of the human experience.and a part of being part of a free market society. i agree they should not be allowed to donate to the political candidate of their choice but it is what it is.....or so sayeth the courts

Nuff said.

3. I still think there should be some kind of Fairness Doctrice OR
at least a law that holds media outlets like Fox responsible for the lying content of their commentators.

I bet the New York Times and Washington Post disagree as well as AP.

Fairly new but will be interesting to see what "free speech" means to them. :-)

Amend the constitution, or pack the court with liberals. I don't see this court taking kindly to congress trying to create a law that sidesteps their ruling.

A lot of corporations are being savaged by ObamaCare and then being savaged by being ordered to hearings for saying so. I certainly hope they might consider supporting the right side with their $$$ for a change.

Amend the constitution, or pack the court with liberals. I don't see this court taking kindly to congress trying to create a law that sidesteps their ruling.

As they get more and more radical in their legislation, I see the Congress getting slapped down more and more by the SCOTUS.  When the lawsuits over health care "deform" reach the court, I see them being decided against the President and Congress by at least 6-3 margins (I think Breyer will come over to the constitutionalists' side), and maybe even 9-0, after Teh Wun dissed them in the SOTU.  But the first shot to be fired may very well be the 2nd Amendment case, because the City of Chicago is one of the litigants.  It'll be a subtle jab at Obama and the corrupt machine he came from.
