I didnt realize supposed liberals were harassing republicans. I guess the caller to Jean Schmidt epitomizes whats going on. One group feels like they are having something taken away and the other group feels they are getting something they are entitled to or deserve. It comes down to political ideals. Do you feel that those 30 million uninsured should be insured at ANY expense? Some obviously feel they should be. If you were discriminated against for decades and it felt like someone was going to throw you a bone, and you were starving, would you fight for that bone?

In a college sociology class I took years ago I remember talking about power struggles. And when someone gains power, some other group or person must lose it. So that's what we have here to some extent--it may not even really have much to do with healthcare--who knows how it will all shake out and effect our collective health or the economy? No one knows...it's just speculation. So we struggle for power and control similar to the 60's. But now instead of being black and white, I think its more liberal vs. conservative.....

Well, there's where the classroom meets reality.  Your sociology prof was incorrect.  Power is not a zero-sum game.

Tha will be the ones that shut their doors because they don't have enough Dr's who no longer continue thier practices because they can't afford to with government intervention into their PRIVATE practice.

One of our local hospitals discontinued seeing patients that have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield as their health insurance. All of the doctors tied to the hospital followed suit. It's pretty clear that Doctors and Hospitals are only in the business for the money, not actually treating the ill.

Oh yes, we must force these people and businesses to operate at a loss!! It's for the "common good" after all. Also, the notion that people should be paid for work is so old fashioned!

Oh hell yeah, it's real. With my insurance, TRICARE Standard, I've had a hell of a time finding Surgeons that accept it. One of the ones that accept it, I wouldn't let operate on YOUR dog.

Based on what? Im not sure I agree with you. With money it usually is--I buy, you sell. In war it seems like it is--Hitler took power from the Jews, we took power from Hitler and Japan. Now China is taking financial power from us.

Man A sells apple to Man B for a quarter. Why? Man A values the quarter more than his apple and Man B values the apple more than the quarter.

Both men are satisfied with the transaction. Which one do you see as losing and which as winning?

Now China is taking financial power from us.

For the USA to bounce the ball so to speak back into China's court, all the USA has to do is put a import tax of 50% on all goods being imported from China.
The job market would improve because the goods would then have to be made here in the USA.
Will the lawmakers on the hill having enough balls to do it is the question.

Donald Trump advocated that on Hannity the other night. He also said what they make in the form of furniture and toys is junk that falls apart in a year or two. They will be importing their death trap cars in the near future. A big import tax could help to bring manufacturing back to this country; we desperately need jobs.

Once again, incorrect.  Try reading Ayn Rand sometime.  Specifically:

Quote
"If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose--because it contains all the others--the fact that they were the people who created the phrase 'to make money.' No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity--to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created. The words 'to make money' hold the essence of human morality.

"Yet these were the words for which Americans were denounced by the rotted cultures of the looters' continents. Now the looters' credo has brought you to regard your proudest achievements as a hallmark of shame, your prosperity as guilt, your greatest men, the industrialists, as blackguards, and your magnificent factories as the product and property of muscular labor, the labor of whip-driven slaves, like the pyramids of Egypt. The rotter who simpers that he sees no difference between the power of the dollar and the power of the whip, ought to learn the difference on his own hide-- as, I think, he will.

Money is but one manifestation of power.  But as Francisco's "money speech" also states, the power of the MIND is the ultimate power.  There are instances in which a true "win-win" situation can exist, and the expansion of money, power, what have you--is limited only by our will and our imagination; hence, our minds.

No, but isn't it amazing how much of a trade deficit exists when our markets aren't open to their goods, and they basically piss all over our copyrights and trademarks?
