I Joined a Boat Club...
« on: March 22, 2010, 04:34:17 PM »
....last weekend.

Been out on the boat twice already...I love it...all the fun and excitement, without the boat ownership headaches.

I owned a boat about 5 years ago and after Hurricane Wilma, it was destroyed.  Doing it this way, is much better....Florida does have it's perks! :-)

How does that work? Rent a boat by the hour or by the day.

I have access to a fleet of 55 boats, from 21' to 28'.  They also have a yacht club, a bit pricier, but includes boats up to 42'.  Sportfishing, Cruisers and Pontoons. I joined the boat club.

You reserve the boats on a first come, first served basis, and you get your pick of boats. Weekends are busy, so you have to book in advance...but I already secured Memorial Day and Fourth of July on a 26 footer to accommodate my guests.  I've gone out twice already, and chose a 24' SeaRay the first time and a 24' Four Winns the second time...both Bowriders, clean and rode beautifully, roomy too.

You basically pay an initiation fee, only $2500 right now (due to the economy woes) and a 249.00 monthly fee.  You just pay for the gas you use.  They have the boat ready, cleaned and with a full tank of gas.  No maintenance fees, cleaning or worries.

I'm gonna love my summer...I'll post pics soon, I brought my 9 m/o and she loved it.

The club I joined also has clubs all over the US coastal areas, up to Boston, on the Gulf and in California.  I can go to any of their clubs as well, with a limit of 4 times, at each club, per year.  As for my local club, which is in Palm Beach, it is unlimited.

Suhweeettttt!!!!!!!

I'll be looking you up if I go to the coast this year.  PSYCHE!  I don't have any plans to.  But, that is so cool.  Some of the best times in my life were deep sea fishing with my Pappaw, off Jensen Beach in Stuart.

Enjoy!

Yeah, but you couldn't pick the days you wanted to use it.
