You goons are so hilarious when you try to get us. If you ever bothered to find out what we believe in things like roads are a legitimate role of our Govt. No one loses freedom when we pay fair taxes to provide roads. Most states use gas taxes to fund these projects so it is sort of a consumer tax which tons of conservatives like the idea of consumption taxes vs income taxes.

The other argument about not taking their SS checks is just as stupid considering they were forced to pay in so they may as well reap some reward from the money taken from them.

Hey, I'd gladly pay a toll each time I drive on one of the socialist roads if they would quit charging tax on each gallon of gasoline.  I'd come out ahead.

I don't think the federal government should own roads.

State and local governments have every right to build roads.

I wouldn't even mind the tolls if the money gathered actually went where it was originally intended.  Here in NH, nearly 2/3 of the gas taxes and tolls go to things OTHER than road construction and maintenance.

You see the roads are there for all of us to use so all of us pay for them.  If O'bama and his minions wanted us to pay for all the above for you then you would see the same thing going.  The roads are different because they are pay as you go!

The state of the roads in California is pretty pathetic, and we have some of the highest gas taxes in the nation.  If this the best we can expect from "socialism" then we are all doomed if the Health Care bill passes.  I wish there were a way to have a private organization take over portions of the road, I'm sure that they would be much nicer to drive on.

I suspect outside of the big cities, we would be riding on either dirt or corduroy.

There are a few things we pay taxes for that are good - Defence. Police & Fire. Roads & Highways. Air traffic controllers.

Everything else is best done by privately funded sources including science, technology, and medicine, since competition breeds innovation and lower prices. Always has, always will.

 I have paid a lot of fuel taxes, federal and state road use taxes, permits, tag fees etc.

 Wish DUmmie had said that before I retired, sold my equipment, lowboy and gave up my CDL's. I feel like I'm owed the use of half the highway. ... and I would liked to have been meeting the DUmmie in my "loaded" semi when I took my half of the road right out of the middle.
