We are about to take a victory lap!

I would be surprised if the vote on HCR would be Sunday..I am thinking it will more likely be early next week.. But that is just speculation.

Anyway you look at it.. as Dean said.. the President lead on this, especially the last month he has been all out... and it is going to be passed.

Take your lap and shove it. Wait for lawsuits DUmmie.

Amazing, and every one of those eggs in that basket will become fryers in time for the barbecue, you say?

I love premature celebrations.

You have to ask yourself what kind of fool takes a victory lap upon losing freedom?  Either someone who doesn't recognize that's what is happening, or someone who abhors freedom.  I'd place the peaceful choo-choo primitive in the "abhors freedom" category.

Remember the National Recovery Administration, the centerpiece of FDR's New Deal, was found unconstitutioal and scrapped in 1935. That was the reason he wanted to pack the Supreme Court. Maybe we'll have another go-around of the Court slapping down a socialist president. That would be too beautiful to imagine. We'd hear all about the "selection" of Dubya again.

So does everyone here think it will pass or fail?
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. Well.....my son works in DC, and has several friends in various staff positions in the House......the word that he is getting is that it will likely pass by one or two votes.......

If the Speaker didn't have the votes, she would pull the item from the agenda, to limit party embarassment........

If we hear the vote will be put off until Monday, we'll know she is still one or two votes shy.  As well as being one or two beers short of a full sixpack already...

I saw something on RedStata to this effect:  The Dems should be very wary of this getting through because, what happens when Republicans control the purse strings--do they think that the Republicans will actually fund this?  Then, what happens when a hypothetical President Palin appoints, say, Rush Limbaugh in 2013 to be the Health Care Czar? :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Do you think the spineless Republicans will dare try to defund it? Just like SS and Medicare/Medcaid it will turn into a third rail type of program, no one will want to look like they are cutting off some poor persons beni's. (even though you and I will know the truth)

Since the benefits don't start to pay out until 2014, there are some things that can be done......only the taxes start immediately, so if we retake congress, it can theoretically be defunded, by adding an amendment to an annual budget bill that the president HAS to sign, or risk shutting down the government.......

There are ways to get this done, but none are easy, and all rely on controlling congress......that should be the immediate goal.

You realize how many lies and deceits that they needed to "pass" this thing?? How many bribes and threats?

You realize that its going to cost twice as much at least, as their saying?

That MediCare cut is NOT going to happen, thats a half-trillion right there.

Its not going to be cheaper. It's going to mean all kinds of new taxes and mandates. For LESS healthcare. In a few years it might be very hard to find a specialist.

Unfortunately they don't care about any of that........its all about advancing their agenda by getting their "foot in the door" with the plan, in order to "fix" it later, when the wheels come off.....they are creating a plan that will fail, so that a "crisis" can be declared, with single-payer being the ultimate (and only) solution.

They really don't have a choice.  With their uniform opposition to it, and the swell of public opinion against the bill's passage, they have to.

Agreed.  Right now, it's 50%-50% that it stays.

Some people (pundits) are saying that it can never be repealed, because people get addicted to the "benefits."  However, if all we have is 4 years of pain and taxes before any "benefits" kick in, what's to be addicted to?  What's so hard about repealing it, if there are large enough R majorities?  Am I missing something?

Well, for starters Karin, it's going to take a 2/3 majority in both houses to repeal any of it as long as O is Prez, and by the time he's out, benefits will have started.

Some parts of it take effect at once though, I foresee group insurance rates rising significantly as a bunch of 23-26 year old adult children are suddenly added to policies, although it's generally a low-claim group, it does include a lot of young women bearing children as well as just a bunch of additional dependents generally.  The Forces of Darkness will claim that the necessary increase in rates is 'Exploitation' (Some of which will no doubt also occur) by the eeeevil insurance companies.

I am fully expecting this to pass - Obama and his friends are promising the moon and the stars to those that fall in line, and the threat of what happened to Massa if they don't.

I'm expecting it to pass, too--but to get overturned by the myriad of Federal lawsuits that will be filed.
