I posted a thread about half an hour ago. It didn't go far, but all of a sudden, advertisements started showing up that were posted by someone or something called DU AdBot.

Is this something new? Have you seen it before? Did I miss some kind of announcement about this?

Most of us contribute to DU and it's our contributions that helped make this a successful site. Whatever this DU AdBot thing is, I instinctively feel it can only hurt DU. And hurt the contributions from us.

Poor baby has never probably never discovered that AdBot mocks the DUmmies relentlessly.  :evillaugh:

2. I didn't even get a notice about my star expiring.
 Every year I've been on DU, I always got a contribution reminder. But not this year.

Perhaps DU has gotten "Too big to fail."

That is pretty funny, he didn't know what it was.  So, most of the gems that we get to see, they never get to see!  Like the time Adbot advertised firewood on ebay, in response to someone getting theirs stolen.  Our own little joke factory, at their expense.

Well, the guy's had about six hours now, to get some dough to Skins.

One can do that within seconds, via electronic transfer.

And the sooner Skins gets the money, the better.

There's a DUer, theNotoriousP.I.G., who lives in Germany and recently lost her husband (companion? life partner? not sure) in a car crash,  I would never mock the situation, but when she posted recently to update her fellow DUers, it sure seemed like ADbot was mocking her.....

Adbot's a genius.  I'm lurking over there, and there's a guy who said he just saw his first teabagger.  She was holding a sign in an intersection saying "Stop Obamacare!"   Adbot put on an ad for Frogger, you know, with the cars going along on the road.

7. We have a rather large, very loud teabagger contingency around here.
 They actually marched in our St. Patrick's parade last Sunday. I was quite sad to see someone I used to be friends with marching along with them, proudly carrying a "Don't' Tread on Me" flag. This is a friend who used to talk smack about George W. She hated him. What happened, I have no idea. Quite frankly, I don't care. I can be friends with your run of the mill Republican, but not a bagger. I refuse. 

She probably hates you back.
