Got a call from my Army Ranger son. He and his troops saw Obama.

I wanted to hear him bust with pride, telling me that seeing his President -- this President -- had made an impression on him.

Instead, he said: We were assembled there...the 1st Ranger Battalion, one of only 3 Ranger Battalions in existence (and of course he listed them). And the President gave us a nonchalant wave as he rode past us. Not more than a glance and a little wave. Like he didn't recognize who we were, like he didn't care.
That from my son who is getting ready to be deployed yet again into harms way -- his second tour in Afganistan, third since he joined.

This is sad for me.

An anti-bouncy of sorts. :evillaugh:

Long thread, with this disclaimer at the end:

We know that the military is only a photo op for this president.

But seriously, we know how the military feels about Democratic presidents, so I take this story with a grain of salt.

68. Maybe he was pre-occupied, because I don't think he would
purposely diss them. Obama's got a pretty full plate.

But I understand their disappointment, I would've been too.

Much respect and many, many thank yous to your son and his sacrifice.

You always write so beautifully and with such wisdom, sojourner, have you thought of writing to the President? At least make him aware. Sometimes we just don't know how our behavior effects those around us.

Any excuse for barry.

I can almost guarantee there is more to the story than this.

Yeah...he does.

of other people around. I am sorry your son took this so personally. I don't believe it was done in a spirit of maliciousness, probably just preoccupation with what he was there for.

There are only three Battalions of Rangers in the Army. The 1st Battalion is the oldest and is headed back into combat. They are at a single base with no other Rangers present. They wear a special uniform. Gosh, I am sure barry doesn't grasp the importance that is the Ranger Battalions.

President arrives and departs from Hunter Army Airfield

Updated: Mar 02, 2010 3:49 PM MST

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - President Obama landed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah just before noon.

He was greeted by Savannah mayor Otis Johnson, Georgia governor Sonny Perdue, General Jeffry Phillips with the 3rd Infantry Division and Ginger Cucolo, the wife of 3rd ID commander Major General Tony Cucolo.

Two dozen members of the local media were set up on a platform just feet away from where Air Force One landed. Security was very tight, the Secret Service used to metal detector on everyone and searched every bag.

Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police, Georgia State Patrol, the Chatham County Sheriff's Department and military police with Hunter Army Airfield also helped out with security.

Once the President was whisked away to Savannah Technical College, several people got to take a tour of Air Force One, including Ginger Cucolo.

Just after 3pm the President arrived back at Hunter. He said goodbye to Cucolo and General Phillips.

Georgia's United States congressmen Jack Kingston and John Barrow rode back to Washington DC with the President. Kingston said they planned to talk about issue important to the Savannah area, like jobs and the ports.

Air Force One took off around 3:20 and disappeared into the overcast sky.

barry was there to talk at a college.

He was there for his daily two-hour televised speech on PMS and CNN. I've often wondered: Do those nodding fools in the peanut gallery behind him travel from speech to speech, or do they recruit a new batch of fools at each location?

Badcat's photo says it all.  I went over to the thread, and I didn't last long.  Those assholes treated Sojourner completely without respect, regard, sympathy, or basic humanity.  How dare they?  I hate them so much.  I feel terrible for Sojourner.  I wonder how he/she feels about his/her little "community" today?  I would never ever come back, and I'd badmouth that site all over the web.  I'd become conservative and tell them why.

Well, really, very few Presidents would single out a particular outbound unit for any special recognition over and above what they'd give another unit, and it sounds like a courtesy wave en route to other business entirely.  The kid was delusional if he thinks Obama knows Army Rangers from Forest Rangers in the first place.  It really was kind of whiny.

And besides, Obama is focused like a laser on jobs, so how much attention can he actually spare, right?

Wait, Army Rangers are different than Forest Rangers?  Next you'll tell me that Texas Rangers are different too! :-)

No idea if the BDE at HAAF was standing around scratching their asses or not, but apparently you just don't get the Obama view of anyone military standing in review when he goes by, no matter what uniform they're wearing - they are there for him, he is not there for them.

Feel free to disprove it.

You know, I am a little worried about the current relationship between the top military brass and the 0bam-bam administration. The supporting statements by Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on ending the Don't ask, Don't tell queer policy. After the Fort Hood Massacre one of the top military brass made statements where diversity was important while making zero mention of the cause for this, the Islam fanatics that permeated out military, government, and neighborhoods.
WTF?
I was kind of hoping that our military would always be there to stop this type of shit before it got too far out of hand AND, willing to throw down against democrat politicians INCLUDING the POTUS when their obvious purposeful destruction of this nation leaves no doubt as to their intentions.
Seems to me they either agree with these democrat commie sacks of horse manure OR, their retirement is being held over their heads.
