My Nephew was outted, and then kicked out of school
by Florida4Obama
Wed Mar 03, 2010 at 06:00:30 PM PST

I am just beside myself tonight. This afternoon I got a frantic call from my sister in North Carolina. Her 18 year old son was outted at his school today. She had expected he was gay, but due to her religious beliefs, never wanted to believe it. Well today, he was outed at his private Christian school. The principal called him in to his office to ask if the allegations against him were true, and he admitted that they were. He was immediately kicked out of school. He's a senior and was scheduled to graduate with honors in just 4 months. Can they do this?

The whole thing started with some bigoted holier than thou kid playing a prank. My nephew is on two sports teams at school and is very athletic. Nobody would consider him the stereotypical gay guy. Apparently a classmate thought it would be funny to play a prank on him and signed up with a fake Facebook account. On that Facebook account, he pretended to be gay. He contacted my nephew and one thing led to another and my nephew admitted to this "fake" person that he was gay. Well, that kid took a screen shot, printed it out and showed it to several people at school. My nephew apparently then said he knew it was a prank, but the damage was done. He was outted. The school has a strict policy about "alternative lifestyles" and he was called in to the principal's office. To make matters worse, my nephew sent a few graphic photos of himself and those had been turned in to the principal's office too. The school said that alone was enough to kick him out.

My sister and her zealot husband both confronted him when he arrived home. They told him that he needed to speak to the family minister and pray for forgiveness and "deliverance from this sin". Well, instead of meeting with the family minister, he skipped town. He called me and told me he is on the way to my house in Florida. This is probably a 12 hour drive for him. My sister has told me to turn him away, but I can't do that. I know I risk the relationship I have with her by taking him in, but how could I possibly turn him away? He is scared and incredibly hurt. He knows that we do not judge in my home and is seeking refuge here.

What do I do? What do I say? The kid was just outted, then kicked out of school because of it. I really don't know how to handle the situation.

Yeah, they're pretty much right about that.  But don't feel bad, apparently being an 'Honor student' at that school doesn't require a functioning brain, so it's not like he's missing out on a well-earned distinction.

Dear Little Goon:

My nephew was outed and kicked out of school too.  This was six months before graduation.  He was attending the Great Satan Academy in a small town in California.  Some of the other students were playing a prank on him via the internet.  To make a long story short, they outed him as a Christian.  They even got him to post pics of his Bible.

Can they kick him out?

Signed,

Just Askin'

You know how they fly into a rage over the vaguest of perceived slights.  What, are all gays wimpy and soft and femmy?  Nobody picked up on it.  Onetenthof one percent is over there, and weighs in with some common sense.  BlueNorthWest has a tizzy all over him.

One mentions the parents "choosing their religion over their child".  They just don't get it, and possibly never will (though I hope they do, for the sake of their eternity).

Maybe not stereotypical, but the other kids knew, otherwise the facebook trick would never have happened. Queers who put on an act of normalcy are even creepier than the swishy sissy boys.

While one never knows which stories of the DUmmies are true (I suspect this is more of the pat on the back, look at MEEEEEE, I'm a good liberal post), even so, why would you share this with the world? It's extremely insensitive to her nephew. Maybe he's not ready to have his personal life splattered all over the Internets. Teenagers and DUmmies are notorious for blowing things out of proportion. Despite their zealotry, the parents may well have been more pissed at the kid getting his ass kicked out 4 months before graduation. If there are scholarships and/or pending admissions to Ivy League universities, getting expelled would tend to put a damper on some of those plans. Given that the kid is an "honors" student, maybe his parents, despite their disappointment at his lifestyle would rather meet with said principal to see what can be done to keep said teen in school for a few short months. In this instance the "oh so tolerant" sibling would be doing a disservice to a young man who has obviously put a lot of effort to getting an education over the last 18 years. The kid was stupid, really really stupid. Welcome to life with teens. A parent's initial reaction is not always indicative of how the situation is going to turn out. Super sibling might be wise to let nephew stay for a day or two as a cooling off period, then send him home and butt the hell out.

27. A heart so controlled by church-hate that it throws out a son. We speak about hate-crime, it seems
so pitiful when it is a mother-son.

There's nothing in the story that indicates the parents threw him out. They simply wanted him to pray about it and see a minister, and he booked it out of there. They probably didn't want the moonbat aunt taking him in and with good reason. They wanted him at home.

Leave it to DUmbasses to just make shit up to suit their own preconceived, hate-filled agenda.

Beat me to it. Those Christian schools are a tad peculiar about, well, morality for one thing.

God alone suffices.

Exactly! Even a private religious school can't kick you out for your sexual preference unless you're causing a riot over it. It's against the damn law! However, posting under the age of 18 porn on the internet can get you arrested in some areas of the country!

ETA: ( If this is even at all true, I'm certainly surprised she'd admit to him posting pics on the net! )

A private school certianly can remove you for violating any of it's ethical and moral regulations. Many private Christian schools have rules about homosexuality that will allow a student to be removed. All a person has to do is admit to being a homosexual and the student can be removed. Remember these are private schools that are not subject to the same restrictions as public schools.

Ah, therein lays the truth! The schrool can't get rid of you with speculation, you either have to admit it, or they have to provide proof. The speculation is the part that is illegal.

Actually, I think you're 99.9% right! Private orgs can get rid of you just cause they don't like the way ya talk. Used to be that way, at least until affirmative action and the FemiNazis started challenging the private clubs and sport franchises.

The Daily Kossack even had a poll, and most of the KosKids think the school had the right to drop the kid.

Also keep in mind that it's a Southern Christian School.

There are several in my area. They are not known for their tolerance of alternative behavior.

Either behavior...the homosexuality or the pics on the internet would be grounds to kick the kid out.

Kid needs to get back home, get his GED and if he was college bound...continue on to college. Most colleges, unless they are religion based schools....don't care which sex their students prefer.

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Unfortunately, most colleges nowadays don't care if you're pokin' the family cat!
