3. you are an angel
You helped her with resources and you didn't charge her for your own services.

You have GOT to be freakin' kidding me. A woman comes in with that tale of woe and he doesn't buy her a bite of lunch? Slip her a few bucks? Offer to make some calls to other practices to see if they need some help around the office? It doesn't even say she got any dental treatment.
But he's a hero for giving her the @#!!*&% number to the welfare office?
Geez Louise these people couldn't be any more hypocritical or shallow if they tried.
One evening a while back I went to the Winn Dixie across from my hospital and sitting out front was one of my old psych patients I hadn't seen in years. Sweet guy, wouldn't harm a fly, but has problems. I knew he was from Georgia (this is Florida) so I asked him what he was doing there. For some reason he had come down too early for his appointment (it was the next day), and when I questioned him his plan was to spend the night out there in front of the store and see his doctor the next day.
Without a thought I reached in my pocket and pulled out a twenty and handed it to him so he could stay in the boarding house for vets and their families by the hospital. No expectation of it being paid back. I didn't even stop to consider he might spend it on something else. It just seemed the right thing to do at the time.
And the best these assholes can do is point someone towards the gubmint, then come back to DU and write bad prose about it while basking in the adoration of other DUmmies over what a great humanitarian they are?
"Compassion" my ass. These people make me sick.
