an old man with several items in his hand walked by me and the cart and his pants knocked a package off a shelf.

I said 'here, your hands are full I will pick up the package'. he said 'no, no I'll get it' which he did. and as I was walking away he said ' that was nice of you to offer, you must be a Christian.'

I said 'no I'm an atheist. Atheists are nice too you know'. and he said ' but you won't go to heaven.' and I laughed and said 'that's ok with me'.

guess I left him in shock.

an elderly woman in a pharmacy.

She had been dropped off at the drug store
and was supposed to have arranged to be
picked up by a "smart bus" or some such.
The bus hadn't come, and she didn't know
how she was going to get home.

She was about a half hour away from her
home and obviously disoriented. I offered
to drive her home and she spewed god talk
and why I was sent to help her (was I saved?),
how I was an
angel (was I saved?), and how she
had been blessed (was I saved?), yada, yada, yada.

Finally, when I got her home and she praised
the lord again (was I saved?), I told her that he must, indeed
work in mysterious ways, because I was an atheist (I was NOT saved!),
she said that she suspected as much, and that I
had been used in his service.

Too stoopid to think that maybe He was giving you a hint?

Yeah...I just bet that the person helped said "you must be a Christian".... :banghead:


I live in the bible belt....as someone locally referred to it the other day - the "buckle of the bible belt"....and I can't imagine anyone saying that to someone that helped them.

Maybe a "thank you and a God bless you" ....but not say "you must be a Christian".
