I find myself drawn to a place I have never been.. Detroit.

There are such lovely homes there..historical homes.. and they are DIRT cheap.

I am not sure I could convince my husband to move there, but I think I want to buy a house there/..just in case..

I'm a bit afraid of being an out-of-state landlady though..

That listing probably leaves out a few details, like the house having been stripped of copper and plumbing fixtures, and the roof having been leaky for the past five years, and the broken windows, and the crack houses next door on both sides.

Hannah Montana is a little behind the curve. The ethnic cleansing of Detroit wrapped up years ago.  Check out how many white folks you see there after 5pm.

Last month my dad took me around Detroit, showing me the parts where he grew up.  It was simply amazing to see how quickly property value's changed.  I mean literally, you'd go from one block where being white will get you shot, to the next block where your paying $500,000 for a house.

There is never going to be a boom  in detroit. The only reason there was a boom there was the fact that Henry Ford had good access to the wood and iron sources he owned. Now you can get that anywhere. detroit is dead and just refuses to know it.

oh but inertia can be a wonderous thing. The auto industry stuck around for a very long time even as it was strangled more and more by taxes and competition.
