Obama and Biden both called Cheney after heart attack

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/25/obama-giv... /

President Obama called former Vice President Dick Cheney at home to wish him a speedy recovery from his latest heart attack, a rare truce in the fiery, arms-length debate the two have been having about national security over the last year.

A White House official said Thursday that the president called Mr. Cheney on Wednesday after the former vice president was released from George Washington University Hospital. Mr. Cheney was treated for what his office called a “mild heart attack,” his fifth over the last three decades.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. had previously called his predecessor while Mr. Cheney was still at the hospital. The White House did not announce Mr. Obama’s call on Wednesday but the official confirmed it in response to an inquiry. Mr. Cheney’s spokesman could not be reached for comment.

3. They are part of a very small club.

And they are all far better friends then they want us to believe.

This was the Prez and the VP showing class as usual. Nothing more.

12. Better than what?

That doesn't make sense to me.

I'm probably not better than most things, worse than some, and a mile ahead of others. How's that?

14. HW Bush and Clinton certainly are.

But I doubt Obama likes Cheney much with all the criticism thrown his way by Cheney. Not friends but yes, they are all part of a club.

16. Obama and Biden's call to Cheney was a classy move

But instead of calling it what it is, you'd rather beat Obama over the head with it.

Cheney is a former Vice President and there's nothing wrong with a sitting President and Vice President wishing him well.

You are a very small person indeed.

29. Cheney and Bush are War Criminals - Obama and Biden helped negate and deny their crimes.

I find nothing "classy" in most anything they do that IGNORES war crimes.

31. Thanks.

I'm really not trying to be an asshole here, of course, who has to try? But what I've seen in my life tells me there are two levels and you, me and almost everyone else will never be on the top. Call me jaded.

These guys are not heroes to me.

38. Only prosecuting them would be a partisan step and effectively doom Democrats for generations.

If you want to go into shady shit US Presidents have done, you can't only make an example of the worst offenders. There are grounds for just about every living former President to be marched into a courtroom and tried by a jury. The idea that Bush and Cheney were ever going to seized and put on trial existed only in delusion.

40. You said it better than I

If people don't think that the President and VP aren't closer to the Bush cabal than they appear to be in public they are foolish.

45. Obama is the last political grown-up standing in this country

It's not an act.

You can disagree with the proposal that he can wear down the Republicans and lift up the country with civility and intelligence, but you can't fault him for actually following through.

I have no fight to pick with Biden and O doing that, not sure how little a person can be that they would get themselves in a knot over it.

One thing that must be said though...Presidents Bush 41 and 43 may not have always done things perfectly but you can never say they did not exhibit class and grace to all.

If the whining narcissist Hussein is one's idea of a "grown-up", they must be a liberal. I've never seen a President who displays such obvious unsubtle juvenile body language. He's done everything but roll his eyes and do the "chickenhead" thing, and one day he's going to slip up and do that too. Living with Michelle, it can't help but rub off. Just like slipping up and saying "my muslim faith"--it's going to happen.
