Actually that was what I consider to be an "Honor Execution". The Japanese are the only ones who do the ritual sepuuku as far as I know.
And suicide is viewed a bit differently nowadays in the Land of the Rising Prices.
Suicide is now more of a guilt trip than an honor thing, something the Japanese are experts at by the way. The message is "See what you guys made me do? See what I was forced to do? I had no alternative and you're at least partly to blame".

I don't know, I never could figure out how to play those Seppuku puzzles. :confused: And why would Spitzer waste time with them at a time like this?  I guess when he's in prison he'll have a lot of time for them.

It's called a guillotine.

It came into wide use during the French Revolution in particular in the 2nd phase. (the Revolution of the Jacobins) DUer opihimoimoi is a would be Robespierre. ( http://www.historyguide.org/intellect/robespierre.html )
That phase of the Revolution, it's use of the guillotine being great and it's corruption being high, led directly to the establishment of Empire under Napoleon Bonaparte. I mention this only to note that even in the sarcastic heated agreement threads of the hive, they can't help but reveal their ignorance.
