Duke,
What I am suggesting and have been for a while now it for conservatives to take back the GOP, to reform the party into something we can feel good about supporting. That means insisting on actual conservatives, not lib-lite like we have been seeing far too often from the GOP in recent years. If a person looks good from your own political POV then vote for them. If they don't live up to your expectations them fire him during the next election cycle.
Do I expect to agree 100% of the time with any politician, even one that I voted for? Of course not. Is Brown going to better in the long run than Coakley? Only time will tell. The good people of MA. need to keep an eye on his voting record and not his party affiliation.
I've met some southern democrats that are just as conservative as I am on many issues. I have also met some northern republican that are down right liberal.
I don't have the option of voting for Senators from other states, but I sure do get stuck having to live with the crap they vote for.
Do I expect everyone to be as or more conservative than I am? No. But that doesn't stop me from wishing it were so and for voting for people that are.
It seems that far too often these days, people aren't voting FOR anyone, they are voting AGAINST the other person.
Why does the GOP keep running and supoorting RINOs? Because they have learned that the people will tolerate it. Some of these republicans are just as progressive as their democrat counterparts; they are merely driving the bus to socialism at a slower speed.
This county didn't get as screwed up as it is overnight. It has been incremental changes spread out over decades, often voted on the wee hours of the morning.
Well, IMO we don't have decades to correct it. Do I have all the answers? Nope.
But I do know that unless things change drastically and very soon, America will become nothing more than another banana republic.
