I think the inner strips between the blocks should be a bit bigger...but smaller than the quilt I posted....maybe like 1/4 inch strips??? or is that too big?
As for building the strips into the blocks....that looks hard...I thought you would just sew the blocks to the strips...but what do I know?

If you look at the link I posted that shows you how to make the blocks you will see that a block is not really a "block.  One half of the block is actually a quarter of the "block" in the quilt.  The white strip will run down the middle of the block.  It's hard to explain to people who don't make quilts.

Today's mod is tomorrow's heirloom...you don't give yourself enough credit girl....Deb may be on to something here....you can even sell them online, especially if you custom make them to a client's preferences...kinda like what you're doing for me...I can be your guinnea pig...lol

I wouldn't be so sure there wouldn't be a market for custom made quilts....things like this usually work by word of mouth.  But I know there is a lot of work involved if you go into a business like this...it's a huge undertaking...but you can start small.

Check out etsy.com they have a ton of quilts listed and for not very much.  They are mainly lap size quilts but still....they aren't making anything.

Do you think this type of quilt would be easier on the eye than the strippy quilt?  I like both of them...the strippy quilt is alot more detailed though.

Either of them would look great.  I like them both.  What ever you want it fine with me.

Yes I see.  It is like the other strippy quilt I posted above with the blocks framed only that was using the Amy Butler pattern and adding a twist to it.  I can do that.  I will mock up a few and we can see how wide you want the solid color to be.

That is how I picture my quilt to look...only with the blush fabric.

Ok, so let's stick with the strippy quilt in Blush with the thin solids around the blocks and a thicker solid to frame.  Basically as I stated above...I really like that quilt....I love the colors too, but the Blush would work better for a little girl.

BEG.....I changed my mind(don't kill me)...instead of the strippy quilt....let's go with this one instead.  I think it looks easier on the eye...especially for a bedroom...I like the white between the blocks and a white border around the quilt idea better..also with the okra boxes this one has......I just love this one!

They can price them how ever they want but how many will sell?  I personally like the one in the middle, the other two not so much.  The scalloped edge is hard to bind.  I still wouldn't pay the price for that quilt but that is just me.  The yellow one has embroidery in the middle squares.  The one on the bottom has hand painted squares.  That is why they are so much.

This quilt here is the same style I make when I make quilts for charity (through a non profit place that makes quilts for kids with cancer).  It is so easy to make.  It would take me about a day from start to finish if I quilted it on my quilting machine.  If I tie it I could get it done in half the time.

Size: 38" x 50" (Larger View)

Bold, geometric grid in bright primary colors frames a backing of big utility trucks, perfect for any power-loving boy. $250

$250?  Are they friggen serious?  Who would pay $250 for that quilt?

Look at the Pottery Barn quilts.  How many people would rather buy a Pottery Barn Kids quilt for $150 over that ugly quilt with the trucks?

With the fabric in the picture or the Daisy Chain Blush fabric?  Where did you find that quilt by the way?

I like both...

the one she used...Midwest Modern, Pink Dahlia

Or should I stick with Daisy Chain, Blush?

Any advice?  They are all so beautiful...or we can take a mix of both??  Have I gone insane?

I actually like the Midwest Modern "Orange" Dahila collection.  That is the one I used in the baby quilt.  You could mix the two, pick out the ones you like best.

LINK

Here is the full line in the Pink Dahlia.  I like them both

LINK
Personally I like the Midwest Modern fabric slightly more than the Daisy Chain.  I like the blue in the Daisy Chain better than the pink I think.  Although the pink is beautiful too.  Man I just love all of Amy Butlers fabrics.

The good thing about the quilt you want to make is that you make it out of "charm squares".  They are precut squares of the fabric and that makes it a TON cheaper.  Do you have a web site you got that quilt from?  I wanted to see if they mention the fabric requirements.

*Never mind I found your link

Another question.  If you go to the link and click on the link where she got the idea, that quilt is set on the diagonal.  It also has a pieced boarder.  I think it would look more "vintage" with an all white border then I could piece the binding in all the different fabrics (the binding is the skinny fabric that goes around the outside of the quilt) or just use the okra green color to bind it with.

I decided to just link to it HERE.

I can make the middle of the quilt and we can decide after I get that part done if you want an all white border or something else.

Here it is finished (she used green for the binding): LINK

I LOVE IT

Oops I corrected the link.  It is the one I posted earlier in the thread.

I saw that quilt from a blogger...I didn't see where she got the pattern from.
I think out of the three fabric collections we have mentioned, I like the Midwestern Pink Dahlia with some from Daisy Chain best.  I like the white she used for the borders and I also like the green cornerstones.
How many fabrics do we choose for this quilt.   I'll tell you which ones I Really like...

In order..

Pink Dahlia...
2, 4,6,8

Daisy Chain Blush..
2, 4, 6, 7.

Can we do it this way?

Here is the picture of the quilt that inspired the quilt you like.  It is just the pieced quilt top and in totally different colors (and on the diagonal).  My link wouldn't work I noticed.

Dang it I can't get it to work.  Try this:  http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0MyNMR5ZhwU/SP4GeesZ0nI/AAAAAAAAA-E/HyHU9X2l3MA/s1600-h/100_5700.jpg

*BY the way, this quilt's border is terrible....I am really mean.   :p

Oh and I just noticed her squares aren't square.

Can you list the names of the fabric so I can be sure that I have the right fabric?  If you look at the last link I posted she doesn't have a border.  I like it either way.

I think with this particular quilt...no border...since the blocks are the focus here....and your eye doesn't stop at a border...

Names of fabrics:

Pink Dahlia:
1.fuchsia / fresh poppies
ab-32

2.moss / nouveau trees
ab-30

3.gold / martini
ab-26

4.rust / honeycomb
ab-25

Daisy Chain/Blush

1.mosaic / rose
ab35

2.pressed flowers / rose
ab39

3.sweet jasmine / natural
ab40

4.dandelion field / rose
ab42

As for the binding...whatever you think works best, be it green or white.  I'd be very happy with either...as you're working with it...you'll see which works better...

I think an all white boarder would look good but if you want it like the one we are using for an example then that is how I will make it.   I think the way the border is done in the other quilt is way too busy.  To be fair to her, I think this was the first quilt she has ever made.

So where will the white border go?  at the end of the quilt...or in the middle somewhere...I'm a bit confused as to the placement of it....

I love the thin border you did here...I just love this quilt..the colors are so crisp...

On my quilt...do you suggest something like this...or a wide border...

OK...and I think you're right..the daisy chain fabrics just don't work well with the midwestern swatches...and I think I like the midwestern more....
