Cut working week to 21 hours, urges think tank

...

Anna Coote, co-author of the 21 Hours report, said: "So many of us live to work, work to earn, and earn to consume, and our consumption habits are squandering the earth's natural resources.

"Spending less time in paid work could help us to break this pattern. We'd have more time to be better parents, better citizens, better carers and better neighbours.

"We could even become better employees - less stressed, more in control, happier in our jobs and more productive.

"It is time to break the power of the old industrial clock, take back our lives and work for a sustainable future."

So let's work 21 hours per week and get 10 weeks of vacation.  That'll make for a productive society. :whatever:

How stupid can people get  :mental:  Working half as many hours would make me much more stressed, not less stressed.  I don't have time to do all my work as it is, and I can't save as much as I would like to with my current salary.

They are not suggesting that you only get paid for 21 hours..they want it to be the same as 40 and you know that every DUmmy out there would walk away without a care at the 21 hour mark.

No, they want you to make less as well. That way you will have less to spend on consuming our planet's precious resources. That will make Mother Gaia and Father Gore very happy.

The foundation admitted people would earn less, but said they would have more time to carry out worthy tasks.

Now, understand, Father Gore will still need his Silky Pony-sized mansion in Belle Meade, and his 100-foot houseboat on Center Hill. No sense in getting all carried away.

Well why don't we just work the weekends and take the rest of the week off?

Are these people really that stupid?

Never mind... I forgot who we were dealing with for a moment.

Wonder what proportion of the funding for the group that did that survey is derived from money looted from the taxpayer.

All leftist groups seem to get some kind of tax funds, directly or indirectly. Its very interesting.

Hey, wait a minute.  I only work Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and I like it.

I think the subtext to this reads "and it will fix Obama's unemployment problem, while making Single Payer insurance an absolute necessity. - another Obama win"

Missed that part...figured it was more of the work fewer hours/get paid the same drivel that France was doing.
It didn`t help their unemployment rate either.

Wonder how they figure folks are going to survive suddenly making half of what they were?

DUmmies and reality are total strangers.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I've done that before worked 3 12's. Of I doubt any DUmmy could work 1 12 hour shift though.  :-)

That's 21 hours more than the average DUchebag works now.  Why would the Dumbasses be for this?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I doubt anyone here remembers the reaction of Maynard G. Krebs to the W word. A DUmmy in the 50s.

Without even seeing or opening the links I could tell this article was the work of some Eurotrash pinhead. I knew by the spelling of the word "neighbours" the second I saw it.

I can just imagine. I love classic TV. Based on what I've seen, before Maynard G. Krebs became Gilligan, I'l bet that poster boy for hippies and slackers would faint at the "W" word.  :-)
