I spent half a minute satisfying myself that the twit had indeed f'ed it up. Poorly done stupidity!

Now comes the question on what is art,
As a Museum freak, I have finally come to the conclusion that art is truly art when people from diverse backgrounds can all look at that particular artifact the same way.
Take 5 people from all cultures and they are shown a painting, sculpture, and all recognise it as for what it is, that is art.
A good cartoonest can draw a picture that people relate to from the Eskimo to the Australian Aborigines. That is art.
Pete you got me off subject, but you kind of put a twang in my mind.
Who really cares what is in the artist mind as they make art, art has to appeal and be recognisable to others in their own mind.
So I stand in Boston looking at a 25x25 canvas with nothing on it but a big red dot. The Art gallery has paid a fortune to buy this and display it because the artist is well known.
What they have bought is something inviting others to interpreted the meaning. This is not art unless one knows the artest.
Art is for all times, all nations and something that is recognisable to to the viewer.
Elephants can be taught to paint as Chimpanzee, people buy their art work but it has no more meaning then that I see in Museums done by humans.
Now I have no problem with melting clocks or primal scream but these canvases taking up 100 square feet and just two or three splashes of color make me shudder.
We have turned art inside out, art should be for the artist to give joy to the beholder, the viewer should be able to recognise the object and marvel at the craftsmanship. Today art is at time pointed at the artist, we wonder what they are Trying to convey. It is now art that migrates about the artist, has nothing to do with us, it is all about them. Phooey, I see more art in good taggers then in some museums.
If you collect art , I have a suggestion, most college towns hold art auctions once a year, paintings sculptures weaving etc. My home is full of these original stuff signed and dated.
Well actually not me, I find if I bring a young grandchild and they do the bidding most people back off. I have some very interesting stuff in here bought for Penny's on the dollar that is unique and one of a kind. Nothing I have has anyone asked " what the heck is that" this is art that is for the viewer not the artist.
Not a good day for me, sorry, time to go back to living under my bed before the snow storm hits again.
