Granted it was a clever design, and with some semi-major tweaks, its engine could dyno out at about 700 bhp, but fastest production car of its time.....I'd have to argue with that........fastest in its price/weight class, maybe.
It suffered from the intrinsic problem that all V-6 engines have, vibration and durability at high power outputs, unfortunately though they do go fast, they don't tend to live very long.
