Hi,

Such a great shame, this place probably has 360,000 jobs in their last jobs number too.

Forget Polls, Here's Tangible Proof the Obama Honeymoon is Over

One sign that Washington, D.C., had been home to Obama Mania was the number of independent retailers selling all sorts of Obama merchandise. Every street corner, it seemed, had Obama wares (or Obama wear) for sale. Now, however, most of the winter caps for sale are not emblazoned with the Obama logo. T-shirts depicting our president as a dunking Michael Jordan, a victorious Muhammad Ali, or saber-baring Luke Skywalker (yes, these shirts all existed) are nowhere to be found.

This time last year, the Obama Store was teeming with customers. Ideally situated in the basement of Washington's Union Station, the store was filled with consumers eager to buy anything with Obama's likeness while others took pictures of the life-size cut-outs of the president and first lady. Now, the Obama Store is boarded up.

How quickly things change in a year.

The Obama Store was capitalism at its most brilliant rawness; find a market and exploit it quickly. The store made possible one-stop shopping for all of your tacky Obama merchandise needs. T-shirts! Hats! Calendars! Hand-warmers! Keychains! It was like something out of Spaceballs ("Obama: The Flame Thrower! The kids love this one."). The store carried every imaginable product with the words "Obama" and "Commemorative," except, notably, the Obama Chia Pet.

Of course, the closing of the Obama Store may not be due solely to Obama's falling popularity. Perhaps the faltering economy (which Obama has nothing to do with, he keeps telling us) played a role. Regardless, the store was ideally situated to make big profits. Not only was it in the District of Columbia, where Obama won 93 percent of the vote, but Union Station is swarmed by the most wallet-opening demographic of them all-tourists!

Sure, polls are unanimous that support from Obama loyalists is receding, but polls pale in comparison to real anecdotal evidence. Last week, Amber Lee Ettinger, better known as "Obama Girl," announced that she has fallen out of love with the president-leading to the question: If Obama has lost Obama Girl, has he lost America? Meanwhile, the Pepsi campaign that borrowed heavily from Obama has fizzled.

This Valentine's Day, visitors to Union Station who had hoped to express their love for a significant other with a $20 pink T-shirt of Barack and Michelle Obama in a heart-shaped picture commemorating the "Presidential Romance" (or T-shirts of Obama and Joe Biden commemorating the "Presidential Bromance," for that matter) may now be unable to do so. That the Obama Store-which apparently received no stimulus money-has closed may be the most tangible sign yet that the honeymoon is over.

Damn.....guess this means M won't be giving me an Obama sleep shirt for Valentine's Day.... :bawl: :bawl: :bawl:
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Hi,

I guess the only item that really continued to sell was the Obama toilet paper.

And JohnnyReb sings, "Turn out the lights, the party's over....."
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Hi,

Boy Johnny do I hope you are correct.  Wasn't it John Balucci dressed in a toga that said it is not over until I say it is over?

For republicans and conservatives we have been on to his game for quite some time.  For the party to be over, the democratic party is going to have to have a revolt, much like the republicans did when they went in masse to Nixon's office and told him it was time to resign.

For that to happen there has to be a sequence of events.  The democrats have to realize BO is on the wrong track and he is going to totally kill them and the party.  Then they are going to have to find a way to meet in secret to find a way to save face if they have to sneak past the palace guards to take down the king.  There is a lot of face saving egos that do not make that such an easy task.  Once they decide to do that, then their next step will be to decide who goes where so they can stay in control.

Last time this happened the president, vp and speaker went down and a compromise senator, Gerald Ford was the shepherd of the office until the next election.

I listened to one of our member's internet radio shows last Saturday. This man went out, door to door, and actively solicited donations for 0baaa-ma, campaigned for him and was an ardent 0baaa-ma supporter. On his show, he stated, "I want my money back"........ I guess that Salaam didn't get the Hope and Change he was promised. It seems like this is becoming the norm amongst moderate Dems.

Conspiracy or Hollywood slight of hand.

I all ways listen to my elders especially my 88 year old mom, some times she gives me some interesting views .

Mom;;    Have you noticed how much darker Obamas skin looks lately.?

Me;  No what about it.?

Mom;    I think his advisers are wanting him to look darker with make up.

Me; what on earth for.?

Mom;  Obama is loosing his black supporters due to failures, mess ups and mismanagement so far.

Me;   so what about him looking blacker how will that help.?

Mom;  Human nature, every one roots for their own team even when they are loosing.

HMMMMMMM  perhaps crazy does run in the family :-)

But then, she has seen so much history, still reads only biography's and history's, what can I say, perhaps she is picking up  reminders of say Nixon who was advised to wear pancake make up as his beard grew so fast he looked like a thug on camera without it.

FDR was never photoed in a wheel chair, JFK looked like Hell the last few months of his life, poor man was so hopped up on drugs from Dr. Feelgood that his face bloated, people were worried about his health.

Then both Bushes that in just a dozen months or so aged right before our eyes.

I think Moms generation pay more attention to the appearance of the presidents as a bell weather of the country's problems.

Kind of reminds me of the MTV Video for " One in a million girl" where a young kid goes for a Carney ride and comes out an old man.

I agree with your Mom, Vesta....he has looked darker....but he did spent 10 days in the Hawaiian sun over Christmas too...so maybe he "darkened" up from the sun.

But she could be right that it's makeup too. Need to look closer on some pictures to see if the makeup is obvious.

I still thinking that the reason that he doesn't want anyone to know that his birth certificate lists his race as "Caucasian".....that would really screw the "first black president" gig he has....
