John Edwards Beat Up Wife Elizabeth, National Enquirer Reports

A disturbing report from National Enquirer claims that Elizabeth Edwards told a close friend that her husband John beat her during a marriage-ending fight. The source, unnamed, passed a lie detector test, the Enquirer report said.

The friend spoke in detail about the terrifying incident - and passed a lie detector test regarding the shocking fight.

"John beat me," Elizabeth had told the friend.

Other sources confirm that the couple's furious confrontation was the "final straw" in 60-year-old Elizabeth's decision to end their 32-year marriage.

According to the source, Elizabeth said this was the final straw: "When he (John) made the decision to hit me, it was over." The Enquirer also recounts incidents where Elizabeth "lashed out physically at John."

Not a big fan of Edwards, but I hope that this story is false. I hesitate to trust anything printed in that rag, but they were the ones that broke the original story and it turned out to be true. If they aren't wrong, this man is the lowest of the low. What a disappointment......

That this slimy little cock sucker almost got to be president...as opposed to the one we have now...  :loser:

1. There is a reason that lie detector results are not admissible in court.

18. And that's even assuming the person is really a friend...
And that the Enquirer isn't making shit up out of whole cloth...

Call bullshit on this one, folks.

49. Assuming it's true for the sake of argument, it tells more about Elizabeth than John
Why would she blab such information to the the type of friend who would then turn around and sell it to the Enquirer?

IT'S THE BITCH'S FAULT!!!

3. Even if the friend passed the lie detector test, it's still just hearsay
It needs to come from Elizabeth directly.

John Edwards has sunk very low indeed. I wonder if he has taken up drinking. Alcohol causes one to do things that the sober self would never do.

maybe John has Post Tramatic ******* Syndrom...

36. Hopefully this is the last John Edwards thread on DU
I wish all the best for the Edwards family to heal and especially Elizabeth Edwards. Hopefully something good comes out of all this nonsense and tragedy.

If you hide your head in the sand it will all go away.

54. for something this serious, the Enquirer is not good enough
for sex scandals or whatever, ok, I'll read an Enquirer story.

But for an accusation as serious as domestic battery, no way.

Imagine, if you will, Edwards being elected as President...Do you think that the 'other woman' would be living in the White House?

The confusion is understandable.  All political whores look the same to me, too.

You know, considering the fact that the political and economic climate would likely be exactly the same as it is under Teh One, at least with Edwards we'd be having a LOT more fun, mocking him from afar.

You DUmmies thought the National Enquirer was the pinnacle of journalistic integrity when they went after Rush Limbaugh.

I think the National Enquirer is more deserving of a Pulitzer than any of the other MSM "newspapers" have been for quite some time.

The amazing thing to me is that these are the people that say morals and rules don't matter. Wouldn't this kind of thing be okay according to the Rules for Radicals Morality Playbook?

Except for the alleged beating it would seem that way.
