In less than two months my 'friend' of 22 years will legally become my husband.

I cannot describe how I get butterflies at the thought.

When I told my aunt we were getting married she said, "I thought you already were?"

Come on guys give them a break, Few people have dear friends for 20 some odd years, the ones we have we cherish and see perhaps 6 times a year if that.

I'm not sure the "State" calls it normal, but it is legal for the time being in a few places.

It was a judge's ruling that declared the ban unconstitutional, not the will of the people.  I'm not sure what the state legislature can do, but I'm quite certain that there will be a differently worded ballot initiative for this November.

EDIT - There is a relatively unpopular 1-term Dem who is running for re-election as Governor, likely against a somewhat moderate Republican former four-term governor with HUGE name recognition.  Grassley is running for re-election to the Senate this fall too, and although he can be viewed as a little disappointing, the rank & file will be out to support him.  It'll be interesting to watch if the tide turns back a little to the Republican side this fall.

You do realize he's talking about his "life partner" and not someone he's been friends with in high school and sees only at high school reunions, right? Most likely they already live together. I've been with my husband for almost 30 years and while every day isn't a bed of roses, lust is definitely still there. You can't be too rich or too thin or have too much sex.

You can call an electrical cord with prongs on each end an "extension cord", but in reality it's just a novelty and has no real use.
