I think our propane company is price gouging......

They're charging $2.33/gallon. That's sounding a little high. My parents live in Northeast Texas and they're paying $1.75/gallon.

Anyone else out there got any pricing information they'd be willing to share?

I'm thinking we're taking it up the bobo on this deal.

1. Texas energy company price gouging?

Thats hard to believe....

Ok sarcasm off....

I know that there are wide price variations between different propane companies here in California. The company that supplies our house is a total rip-off compared to other companies that deliver in the area. We had a large bill and tried to make a partial payment and then catch it up, and they said no, we would have to pay them the full amount or they would cut us off. I told them great, you'll never see a dime of that bill, and I don't care if you give me a bad credit report cuz my credit is so ****ed already that it won't really matter. I left the office cussing and giving the finger to the redneck losers that run the place.

2. Here in WV propane used to be priced on a par with gasoline...

this winter gasoline has been between $1.69 and $1.95 and both of my deliveries of propane have been at $2.70/gallon.

3. Propane gouging

I have a problem here in Texas. My company who I have been with since 1996 has been sold to another Company. Now they want me to pay.$3.20 per gallon for propane, while some of their other customers are paying $2.66. When I bought the last 100 gallons in Oct, I paid $2.25.

Lucky for me, I always call and check the price first. I am about to make waves come Monday.

I think the primitives should switch to electric cooking and heat.

It's safer.

For some folk there is no such thing as safe.  Consider a gas chamber versus electric chair thing.

Now oil heat, yeah, there's the ticket.  My steam is finally starting to come up.  It was a crisp eight degrees this morning when I discovered the oil fired steam system had failed causing the back up system to come on. ( A thermostatically controlled pellet stove which I leave set at 60).

The system has just had its yearly inspection and tune up and the oil tank is at 7/8's so who knows why this occurred, suffice to say the service tech, soon to be known as "The Shadow" will be receiving a call shortly.  I only know enough to take the system out of lock up to try an force a restart which worked this time.  But I consider this akin to starting your car with jumper cables , the initial problem still exists and needs to be diagnosed and corrected.

OK, you're now cut off. I can't wait to see you get a decent deal from another company after this. Redneck losers huh. Bet they're laughing their butts off. You have no propane and you STILL owe the bill. Welcome to the daily calls from the bill collectors.

I use propane, on a yearly fixed cost program.  Locked in at about 1.70 a gallon I think.  But, if you go with the market price, as I have done in the past, during the months of Jan and Feb, especially if it is real cold and use is high, I have paid close to 3 bucks a gallon.  It was MY CHOICE to go that way.  Placed a bet and I lost.

Now as far as this clown

The propane in the tank can be taken out, it does belong to the propane provider until it is paid for.  THey most likely own the tank too.  Good luck getting another company to provide a tank and 350 gallons of propane after they do a credit check.  Kind of have to wonder why a person needs a new tank and a new provider in the middle of winter.  THese idiots just think that a company just makes this stuff on the stove and the buildings and trucks and people have to cost associated with them.

Here is the link to current   spot prices.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

Flynn is correct as I remember it.  Don't know, I was just talking to a fellow about that yesterday.  If it was a deliberate scam my theory is hang 'em high.  If it was incompetence maybe just stick him in a bob shack * out on Winnipesaukee until ice out. ::)
Lot of folk going for "Green Energy" around here (got to love these people but G_d help us they are idiots).  I am just guessing there will be more than a few 'unscrupulous' folk selling this stuff too.  After all just how much cooking grease is there??  How green is green? I keep thinking about the Simpson episode where Homer goes into the grease business, heck even the SignBandit ran a biodiesel still in his barn!!  ( What permits you might ask.)

I wondered about that when I saw that.

Gasoline prices out here are circa $2.63-2.68 a gallon.

For whatever reason, gasoline prices in both West Virginia and Nebraska tend to be pretty similar.

I don't think gasoline here has been circa $1.69-1.95 a gallon since.....the lousy Bush economy.

Can anyone validate the veracity of this DUmbass?  I live in an oil producing state - well, at least we're s'posed to be - and less than 50 miles from a major refinery, and I haven't seen gasoline below $2.25 in over a year.

Bio-diesel is the way to go....get your neighbors into producing it....then go round and pickup their residue...then you're only one step away from making nitroglycerin.

Now you can act like an Islamic terrorist...if the neighbors don't pay your heat bill...  :-)
