How big a risk did Obama take today in addressing the repubs on camera? Or was there no risk to him?

I think it was quite a risk, really. I think he took it and I think he won. But it could easily have gone another way.

1. It was a very calculated risk.

He knew what kind of questions they'd ask and he knew the manner in which they would ask them, he simply gave the Repubs enough rope to hang themselves and they did exactly that.

38. my guess is given that he's probably done a lot of debate at the ivy league level

that this was something about which he was truly comfortable.

5. How can they not ask him back? What story/spin would they have to apply to make it not seem petty?

13. CNN is already spinning his meeting with the GOP positive ... for the republicans.

You always LOSE when you attempt to REASON with half-wit bullies.

Obama needs to MAKE the republicans filibuster in the Senate and get them on record as obstructionists.

It's a NO WIN situation ... he needs to show STRENGTH FIRST.

Time for reasoning with the GOP is OVER ... beyond OVER.

Mark my words - come Sunday, FOX will make this meeting into a BIG VICTORY for the Republicans. They will - they have the propaganda machine to do it.

19. How could it have gone any other way?

Maybe I don't get it.

I suspect there's bad news in the offing for both il Duce Bo and the primitives.

The polls will tell which way it went.

Bobo the clown should have said what he said to the GOP in private. Anyone who sees that will know all his "bipartisan" junk is pure bumpum

Sigh.

For an entire year, the Dems could have had anything they wanted--anything. The repubs didn't even have to show up. And the DUmmies still complain about "obstruction."

lol.

Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

I thought he looked (and sounded) like a photographic negative of Doogie Howser, M.D., speaking at an Adults Relationship Conference.

The empty suit made sure the press were invited , for cripes sake! That ought to tell you all you need to know about it! It was nothing more than a set-up to try and show Repubs as the fall guy and to blame Bush again!

You don't have to be an astronaut to figure it out.

Personally, Obama got a solid B+.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
