What is your opinion of Fox News?
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:03:53 PM »
Glenn Beck: great

Bret Beir and guests (Charles Krauthammer + Bill Crystal + etc.) very formal beltway, but interesting to watch

Shepherd Smith: ok...

Bill O'Reilly: Some people get paid to be stupid and arrogant

Hannity: very good

Greta: kinda boring

Red Eye: Too homo-erotic for me

Fox and Friends (morning show): hilarious, especially Steve Ducci

Megan Kelly and Skinner : Smart and Hot.

Fox News Sunday: Sometimes Chris Wallace has interesting guests.

Forbes on Fox: Capitalism

I like Red Eye... its pretty funny most of the time and twice as entertaining as whatever else passes for television... I've about had it with these mindless reality shows.  How many cake-decorating shows does the world need?  I agree with you on Gretta and Bill O.  Never seen the morning shows and I'm either sleeping or working on Sunday morning, so I don't catch those either.

Redeye has had better ratings at times than some of the primetime shows on the other cable news networks.  :evillaugh:

Never watch it, but always look at it online first (Drudge is second.)  It's good, thorough, not left-slanted.  The only other news that comes close to skipping the left-slant is, weirdly enough, NPR.  They're opinions are off the left side of the world, but the news is pretty even.

I've started checking the NPR website and my problem with them is that they get quite a bit of content from the AP.

I love Red Eye.  It's all I look forward to on the months I'm working mids.  The humor is definitely geared more for my generation then for you "older" folks though.

Male time? Fruity greg-a-logues. Homo-erotic introductions of guests. And Greg bragging about the "boy-toys" that clean his pool.

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

ahem....I happen to like RedEye. I don't watch it often unless I'm pulling a late night working....but I think it's fun to see most of the guests in a different format than they usually are. I saw Huckabee on it last week and thought he seemed most comfortable...

I'm a Fox News watcher......there isn't really anyone that I don't like...just some that I like better.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

I've been recording it and watching several episodes back to back at times.  It's surprising the variety of guests that they have on.

Its aw-ight.

Actually the Beck documentary and the take down of Joe Klein was awesome. I liked Red Eye when I use to watch it.

I try to watch Special Report every day, I think it's the best political daily summary available on the tube.  I also watch Redeye whenever I happen to be up that late because I think it is just plain funny.

Don't watch TV news, any TV news, because I cannot bear commercials and sitting through crap I don't care a fig about.  Fox online is where I get the news that matters to me.  I don't bother giving any of the other alphabets a hit unless I see a link given elsewhere.

I get News of the Weird from the DUmp.

Bingo on the TV. I watch very, very little of it anyway and only when Mrs E is holding a gun to my head.

Local news is the absolute worst. The steady diet of murders, rapes, robberies, and arson just doesn't work for me. You'd think that I was living in Gomorrah to hear all of that for 18 minutes out of a 20 minute broadcast.   :banghead:

I get most of my news from the WSJ (both hard copy and online), but FoxNews online is another source. I'll occasionally take a look at Drudge. And just to make sure that I get a dose of Moonbat, I'll look at HuffPo about once a week or so.

Redeye has kind of grown on me, at first it seemed too much snark for too little point, but after watching it more I have kind of gotten in the groove with it.

Geraldo makes my skin crawl, he may well be the phoniest POS on the planet with the possible exception of Obama himself.

O'Reilly is a pontificating gasbag and seems like an old-school Ford/Rockefeller Republican which means he's as much of a social liberal as a lot of Democrats, though he does have his moments.

Glen Beck is a bit nutty for my taste, but he also has his lucid moments.

I like all the various Fox & Friends personalities, none of them strike me as exactly geniuses but then I don't want to get my news from someone talking down to me anyway, so that works.

I really like all the brainiac Conservative women and many of the male regulars on the business programs and Fox Business Channel; as far as Fox Business itself goes, it took a big slide in my viewing lineup when Imus came on, he's another pontificating gasbag but with a lot less clarity of thought and an annoying Manhattan-centric outlook despite the cowboy togs.

Geraldo makes my skin crawl, he may well be the phoniest POS on the planet with the possible exception of Obama himself.  Me too! He is so full of himself! I have seen him the last two weekends in Haiti and find it amazing that his head fits into the screen... ::)

Glen Beck is a bit nutty for my taste, but he also has his lucid moments. I like him, though when he gets into his "goofy act" (for lack of a better description)....I tune out. He might be trying to make some good points but he by playing into the nutcase position that many have relegated him...I have little patience for watching it.

I'm with ya on Cavuto, Deb, he's very clever and conversational, without coming across as egotistical.

From 6 am with Fox and Friends to 3pm with Shepherd Smith...it's more news than commentary.

At 4 it's Neil Cavuto that is more business news than commentary.

At 5 it's Beck...which is all commentary.

6 is Bret Beir which is mostly political.

7 is back to Shep Smith and being more news.

From 8 on it's all commentary.

The only time it's different is if there is some crisis in the world such as when the Haiti earthquake first happened.

Ah I see... (I don't have TV) ... honestly I still associate Fox with the Simpsons.   :hyper:

I don't often go to the site, it's too slow.  I listen to the news on the radio as I  commute to and from work.  Maybe it's just our local stations, but the radio news is pretty balanced.

I forgot to mention Geraldo Rivera.

If you look up scum-sucking leach in the dictionary, you will find Geraldo's picture.

Almost exactly my sentiments on all of them except Red Eye.....I've never watched it.
