This may be a really stupid question,

but could a Health Insurance Co-op be started? One that would charge reasonable rates and gather so many members that it would drive out all the other billion dollar profit makers? Also one that would take advantage of any and every gov't subsidy out there? Citizens consisting of doctors and health professionals on the board, etc.?

Whatever happened to the DU health insurance co op they talked about setting up a few years back anyway?
It must have gone the same way as when they planned to buy that town and set up an actual DUmmyville.

Did you ever notice that any time someone starts with "This may be a stupid question, but.....", he is almost always right?

I would SO love to see them do something like that and succeed!  Imagine them setting up an insurance company and using a 1% profit margin.  When they hit $1 Billion the other DUmmies would move them off the planet all while they screamed "I'm only getting 1% profit!!!"

They have no clue at all.  The latest numbers showed that the insurance companies profits were a scant 2.2%.  It doesn't matter to the DUmmies about the percentage.  It was all about the dollars because they're stupid.

Not only that the insurance industry pays out $102 for every $100 collected in premiums.  But hey, I'm sure the super efficient government will more than top that.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I heard they were stupid enough to buy a large parcel of land that was being sold by some seedy character from a place called Searchlight, Nevada. Turns out he sold land that was located inside an Air Force bombing range near Nellis and forgot to tell them the details of the deal. After a few homes and busnisses got built this is what they last saw.
